25 point lead at halftime West Coast backers will need to only hope Geelong keep missing because as some point in the 2nd half, these shots are gonna start going through

Sometimes as much as you hate it, you need to pay respect to an opposition team such as this awesome outfit because they are proven champions and it's unfortunate the media have such a massive influence on people's views. |

no disrespect pregame but who has taken the 2nd most contested marks and number one in the AFL for marks inside forward 50 and kicked 50 goals for the year and has not even been mentioned one iota the past week and no mention whatsoever for All-Australian selection?
Podsiadly Another reason why Geelong win and win it easy today along with the match next week. They have too many underrated players who are absolutely brilliant and would be getting media accolades had they be playing in a team like Carlton, Collingwood or Richmond who are easily accessible to the media. Last year's loss was because the club had major issues and you saw what happened with St Kilda this year and the coach not being commited to the cause...players aren't stupid, they feel the unsettled nature of the business. Geelong had injuries to a stack of players as well which no one apart from Geelong fans know all to well about. Geelong today by 45 and then by 23 next week. |

Geelong -28.5 is the POD of all sports across the world and they will win this match by 45 points. I think it will be close for a good half and a but but then Geelong led by the mercurial Stevie Johnson will kick away to bury them and take that momentum into next weeks clash against the AFL's most overrated team of the past decade |

and also don't forget that when the Eagles did beat us in round 16, Geelong were in a heavy training schedule and were not playing to well and lost to the Bombers the week before then after the Eagle loss came out and played quite poor against the Tigers before starting to hit their straps in late August. And in the game against West Coast, we did not have Selwood and we went into the game with only the one ruckman. It was Varcoe's 1st match back after a month away through injury and we go into the game on Saturday with the two ruckman of Ottens and West and Selwood along with Varcoe in very good shape.

Eagles are athletic, youthful and apply the press better than most in the AFL due to the larger ground of Subiaco and the fitness of their players because of a massive pre-season. As good as what they have been I seriously can't see them getting out to any lead whatsoever and it will be Geelong that dictate the play for most of the afternoon. Jimmy Bartel has pushed back in recent months and his contested marking along with contested one on one footy has been one of Geelong's underrated secrets so far. Wojcsinki is in career best form and his run along with Varcoe and Christensen through the middle is what will break the game open on numerous occasions to set up Hawkins, Podsiadly or Johnson. Look for a big game from Chapman as he's started to play his best football of the year after a quite average season by his own standards. I think he is going to be a tough match-up for the Eagles defense, either Hurn or Waters may get that job but his one on one marking is a worry for those guys. Apart from Corey (inside word is he's 100% fine) and of course Menzel (ACL), The cats are in prime condition and the week's rest will mean they will run out the game when it does in fact get tight and players become fatigued. West Coast are playing injured with a few of their stars and I don't care how good a team you are...in a final it always makes a difference in the end and they have been great all year but Geelong are on another level and their last month of football has been their best yet, and that's also including their 2007 and 2008 season's. Cats will win it between 25-40 points. |

Ripping game and definitely much closer than most believe. Hawthorn have a massive shot at winning this game because their midfield of Mitchell, Sewell, Burgoyne, Bateman and Hodge will give it their all and they do match-up pretty well in the past with the Collingwood midfield of Swan, Ball, Pendlebury and Thomas.
Media speculate that Collingwood are somewhat not in the best form but I think that is due to the fact that their game style is really being worked on and Hawthorn are the type of team that have the ability to cause the upset of the year. Franklin will dominate the Collingwood defenders as Maxwell and O'brien just aren't big enough to really worry him and that leaves Reid who returns from injury which is a huge task to try and stop a bloke who's averaging 4 goals a match in the finals regardless of his own fitness concerns, a half fit Franklin still takes the best defender and draws a double team. Jolly, Dawes & Didak are players who are in average form and it won't change in the space of a week. Didak in particular is a very surprising selection, he's extremely overrated and seems to always fail on the big stage so it will be very interesting to see which Hawthorn player goes to him as I'm sure the coaching spotlight will be focused on that battle. Hawks will stay in this game throughout the night and the 4 goal line is too good to pass up in a tight contested final with everything to play for. Hawthorn +23.5 is the play tonight. |
