Because it's irritating when it affects the functionality of a website. I would never do this, nor would the company I work for allow this.

I'm a graphic designer, this isn't a jab. Normally you do testing on a QA site to make sure the changes won't affect the overall functionality. Nonetheless, fonts are easily fixable which is somewhat dumbfounding how this is taking so "long" to fix. If I told all of my clients to "keep refreshing till it works" they wouldn't be too happy.
