Appreciate you all, thank you. It was a pleasure hosting this thread. We’ll do it again next year. @bet-lag - MLB is my strongest suit by far. Although, I do play hoops (a little NBA, but mostly college) NHL, and college football. I don’t post in those forums, but maybe I’ll make an appearance at some point
Until then, you all take care. |

Thanks to everyone for stopping by. I read all your comments
To those of you on the Yankees, I get it and I don't blame you. In the playoffs and especially this World Series, we have to pick incredibly tight games. I wish you all the best of luck.
To those on the Dodgers with me, let's close this shit out and ride off into the sunset

Game 5:
I was impressed with the Yankees last night. They got down early and could have quit, but instead they had an offensive onslaught. Although, what can we really take away from that performance? After Volpe hit the grand slam, Roberts pretty much conceded the game. In what was supposed to be a bullpen game, he only brought in 4 arms and all 4 were straight off the B team bus; Casparius, Hudson, Knack, and Honeywell..... C'mon, really? What that tells me is Roberts was clearly saving all of his weapons for tonight.
My guess is Jack Flaherty will have to be absolutely dialed in to get through the lineup more than twice. The first sign of weakness, Roberts is going to the A team. And the Yankees haven't proven they can hit these guys. Why should we expect that to change tonight?
On the other side, the Dodgers will have to face one of the game's best in Gerrit Cole. I didn't like doing it, but I faded Cole in his last start and it worked out. Although, I should be thanking Aaron Boone for that, he pulled him after 88 pitches, giving up just 4 hits and 1 run. If he's on, you have to think that Boone will ride him for as long as he can. However, that's IF he's on. Let's not forget that in addition to being the #1 offense in baseball, 1/3 of LA's lineup (including Freeman) historically own Cole. (Prior to Postseason) Mookie Betts (17 ABs): 412 AVG/471 OBP/471 SLG/915 OPS Freddie Freeman (20 ABs): 350 AVG/409 OBP/650 SLG/1.059 OPS K. Hernandez (21 ABs): 381 AVG/480 OBP/667 SLG/1.147 OPS
In conclusion, Gerrit Cole has started 6 win or-go-home postseason games. His teams have only won 2 of those starts. I think the Dodgers can hit him a bit, but Cole will likely pitch well enough. However, his track record indicates he can't do it alone. I don't think the rest of the team will do enough.
I'm on the Dodgers to close out the World Series at +131

Game 4:
If you look at this game at face value, the Yankees are an appealing play. Luis Gil is not your ordinary end of the rotation type pitcher. He's a candidate to win rookie of the year. If not, he'll likely be runner-up. He has had his problems with walks. However, when he has his command, he's a very dangerous pitcher. If he can give them 5 innings and hand it to the pen with a lead, I like NY's chances.
I've talked about bullpen games in the past. I don't like betting on them because all it takes is one guy to not have his best stuff. With the 3 batter minimum rule, that can be detrimental. The Dodgers are also likely to use their weaker arms to get through the first few innings. If the Yankees can grab a lead early, they could pick up some momentum to carry them through. I believe Luis Gil can give them that opportunity. I'm gonna hold my nose and roll the dice here.
I'm on the Yankees to avoid the sweep at -130 Cheers and BOL

Thanks to everyone for stopping by with your comments. Appreciate you all
Lineups are out and surprise, Boone makes no changes. It's hard to back a team that's scored 7 runs in 3 games and has zero momentum. On the flip side, the Dodgers are going with a bullpen game. The problem is 6 of em pitched last night, with several guys over or close to 20 pitches. Because of that, Ben Casparius will open. To date, Casperius has only pitched 12 innings in his entire career. And who follows ...Honeywell, Knack? I'm not really sure, but I don't think I'm gonna like it. The gambling world doesn't seem to care. The Dodgers have been steaming all day This is a tough one. I'll be back shortly with my pick. |

Appreciate everyone stopping by, thanks! That was relatively stress free. I’ll prob wait for lineups again tomorrow, so if I’m posting a little late, that’s why. I don’t understand Boone. He has everything to gain and nothing to lose by moving Judge down or bat him 2nd in front of Soto. If he does well, Boone’s a genius. If he goes 0-5, nobody questions it. Anyway, nice win tonight See ya tomorrow |

Game 3:
Ohtani is playing and Judge is still in the 3 hole. I've lost faith in Aaron Boone. I'm on the Dodgers at +135. Cheers all and BOL |

@lik122 - @HayHay2 @Jaserz @Htowngoat - Thanks bud. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the only thing Boone is shaking up is his catcher @Ringmaster316x

@soup-can @NONEED4LUCK Love that movie buddy @Fuse @Bay2LA - looks that way, Bay. Yanks steaming right now @Cover34 - Yo Cover, I didn't think a sweep was possible. Now, not so sure @Ryoshiii - So far, that's right Ryoshiii. Their bats are proving to be too much as well
I'm gonna wait till lineups are released before making a play. I need to confirm if Ohtani is playing and if Boone sticks with Judge in the 3 hole. He could bat Judge in front of Soto or drop him to 5th? I think either move would take some pressure off him. However, Boone has been inflexible with his lineup to this point, so not sure that he'll do anything. I'll be back after lineups are out. Cheers all

@lik122 - A tease there at the end, Lik. I guess we can't win em all.
@brocktherock -Thanks Brock. I believe I'm 14-2 in the playoffs. Ironically, Yamamoto was involved in both losses. I backed him at the wrong time and last night, I faded at the wrong time.
Thanks to everyone else for your comments. And I really appreciate no trolling after a loss.
Aaron Judge is throwing a wrench in this World Series. After having the best offensive season in 20 years, his post season struggles are wild. He's an auto out batting 3rd. If he's not contributing, the Yankees have no chance. Not sure how I'll move forward, need to sleep on it. Enjoy NFL Sunday. See you all soon.

I did not see the Yankees getting one hit through 7. Shameful performance. Aaron Judge needs to do some soul searching. Time to drink this one off. See you all soon |
