It's nut cutting time in the Mountain West this week with #1 playing #2 (New Mexico hosting Utah State on Sunday) and #3 playing #4 (Boise State at San Diego State this afternoon). The two games of interest on 2/15 are Wyoming +10.5 at Colorado State and Boise State +2 at SDSU. If you look at Wyoming's record it looks terrible but if you look closer you'll see that they have been playing the best teams in the league and only losing by single digits. And they are improving. Colorado State is a strong team in their own right but I'll take Wyoming plus 10.5 in this game and would look at WU plus 6 in 1st half. The other game should be a barn burner! SDSU is not as good this year as they typically are and Viejas hasn't been the den of noise like it was in years past but I expect the house to be full and rocking! But Boise is playing better ball than the Aztecs right now and, as hard as it is to win on the road in this league, they are still the bet at plus 2. On Sunday will be the (up to now) game of the year in the MWC. UNM went to Logan 10 days ago and put it to the Aggies by 19, giving them their worst home loss in 20 years and I guarantee their coaching staff has been reminding them of that ever since. I do not expect UNM to have an easy time tomorrow in the Pit. The house will be full and the place will be loud and rocking but USU has all of the tools to hush the home crowd. They shoot the 3 well, rebound well and play that strange ass zone defense which gives most teams lots of headaches. I don't know what the line will be for tomorrow's game but I'm a Lobo fan so I will probably take them in the Money Line regardless but I am hesitant to recommend it. Should be a great game and hopefully will be good publicity for the conference since it will be nationally televised. |
