Wow, if that hit was 10 feet to the left it was the biggest anti-moose of all time.

Athletics are going for the record books: most players stranded in a game.

I'm going to live up to the thread title. $500 on triple [Angels ML + Athletics RL + Athletics/TB O7.0] to win $5,285.
I'm crazy but I have the bankroll set aside that I have and if I blow it up I'll live. We'll just have to see what happens. Playing with profit so it's all good. Good luck, everyone.

Current Card Giants ML (-134), risking $1,000 to win $769. Double [Nationals ML (-137) + U7.0 (-105)], risking $250 to win $594. Tigers RL (+130), risking $1,000 to win $1,300. Scherzer is getting it done, McCarthy is not. McCarthy has much better numbers during the day than at night, and as good as this offense for the Tigers is, McCarthy is going to need to pitch the game of his life. Don't think so. Reds/Indians U7.0 (-135), risking $1,000 to win $740. Not going to do a long write-up here. This is clearly the best play for this game, and if it doesn't land I'll just complain about a bad beat. What more can you ask for? Neither team wheels in runs and both pitchers have the ability to shut a team completely down. Probably more picks to come, we'll see. |

Neither team has much experience against the opposing pitcher, and in fact, the Orioles have never seen Roark. Neither team has been hauling in runs by the boatload this season, and the park makes extra base hits tough to come by. The Nationals have a slight edge in terms of pitching and home-field advantage, while Gausman has had a bad outing or two on occasion recently. I give the Nationals the slight nod, but because they have anemic bats, I'm going to parlay the side with the under. |

Yesterday's Thread: https://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=27&sub=101925486 Season Goal: +$20,000 with a max bet being $2,000. Bankroll Differential: +$2,189 (27.1% Return on Risk) W-L-D: 6-5-0 Sides: 4-4-0 (+$1,100) Totals: 2-1-0 (+$1,089) Disclaimer: Stats include live bets, and parlays are represented as single bets for categorized totals. Recap of Yesterday: Despite the result, not a good day. I fell in a hole early and had to claw my way out with a double. It was a bet I liked, but it could have easily missed, so it's not unfair to say I chased. I do not bet for a living, so doing such things don't bother me personally. I have said before and will say again that I do bet erratically, and not at all the way that is generally accepted as best. We'll just have to see if it works out. Tail at your own risk if you should decide to do so. Current Card Giants ML (-134), risking $1,000 to win $769. Going to simplify my write-ups and stick to what really matters. The Giants thrashed the Mets yesterday and have a scary offense when it heats up. Hudson has been rock solid in his last three away starts. Bat-vs-pitch stats also favor the Giants in a big way. Tim Hudson is also 189-59 following a win and 51-17 in August for anyone who cares about those sorts of stats. Just seems like the right play. Good luck! |

Boom. My worst day betting so far just became my best. It's uncomfortable getting in a big hole and having to bail yourself out, but if you consistently make good decisions, it'll work out (usually).
Looks like I'm +$1,554 today, despite having to make a pair of live bets on a late game to dig myself out of a hole. It's not the safe way to bet but it worked out. |

Birds, you are definitely right that not chasing is the best policy. Regrettably, it is not my style. If I see a chase I like I'm on it. I'm not betting my livelihood so I'll live with the result. Gl

Current Card 1:35 PM ET Phillies ML (+140), risking $500 to win $700. This is probably another unpopular pick, and definitely a bigger underdog than I'll usually consider. Neither one of these teams are playing phenomenal baseball lately, but I'll take Hamels over Strasburg. One simple observation is that Hamels has been far better in terms of ERA lately. The key stat I'm focused in on is that Hamels is by far at his best on the road during the day, while Strasburg has struggled mightily during the day. The Phillies have also been rebounding from a smackdown recently, and they certainly got one yesterday. It should be a low scoring, close game, so I'll take these edges and the great odds and try to get a good result. 2:10 PM ET Blue Jays ML (-166.67), risking $1,000 to win $606. 2:10 PM ET Blue Jays RL (+104), risking $500 to win $525. I'm tempted to take the Mariners, since I think Tillman is one start away from complete gas can mode, but the Orioles are just a little too scary. Three plays will do for now. |

Yesterday's Thread: https://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=27&sub=101924920 Bankroll Differential: +$635 (15.5% Return on Risk) W-L-D: 4-2-0 Sides: 2-1-0 (no bankroll change) Totals: 2-1-0 (+$635) Current Card 2:10 PM ET Blue Jays ML (-166.67), risking $1,000 to win $606. 2:10 PM ET Blue Jays RL (+104), risking $500 to win $525. Simple write-up here. Stroman has been absolutely on fire. I refuse to bet against him, and I am unable to hold off taking him here. He's far better than Feldman, and he also has the greater offensive support. One thing I love is that Houston has never gone against Stroman, and expecting them to beat him the first time seems like a long shot. Further, a few of the key hitters for Toronto have absolutely dominated Feldman, and if that isn't enough, they get to go after Houston's pathetic bullpen. It also doesn't hurt that the Astros have won the last two in this series. I don't know how much it really means, but the Blue Jays are just too good to keep losing against Houston. I think the Blue Jays will be batting with flat bats tomorrow and blow the Astros out. It also helps that Feldman is generally at his worst at home during the day. In fact, he is 2.50 ERA points worse in day games. Are you kidding me? How can I not take the Blue Jays? I love situations like this, where I can either win and be merry, or sit around and complain about a ripoff. I usually don't play the ML and the RL, but since the Astros have been scoring, I'll put myself in a position to win as long as the Blue Jays get the W. One last note: I hate being on a play that everyone loves. Few people were talking about the A's being a solid pick for yesterday and they won easily. So far I haven't seen too much about the Blue Jays. Everybody feel free to ignore this game. Good luck. |

Reasonable, but I get the feeling Tillman can go full on gas can at any time. Don't think I can put money on him.
