Kieran Crowley has been unanimously endorsed by the Taranaki Rugby Football Union (TRFU) board to remain as coach of the province for next year's premier championship.
Following a disappointing 2006 season in which Taranaki lost six of their nine Air New Zealand Cup matches, the TRFU launched a comprehensive review.
A presentation from Crowley to the board was met with approval according to TRFU chairman Peter Crawford.
"While 2006 was a difficult year it is clear lessons have been well learnt and any areas that need addressing will be addressed," Crawford said in a statement.
"On-field results are about much more than one person, and although ultimately the head coach needs to be accountable for the results, a large group is involved in supporting the efforts of him and his team."
Crowley was pleased to have the backing of his union and said planning for 2007 was well under way.
"The review undertaken in conjunction with the board has been thorough and provided some areas to work on, which should always be the case."
One early goal for Crowley's team will be a Ranfurly Shield challenge in early August, assuming holders North Harbour see off challenges from Heartland Championship teams Thames Valley and Horowhenua Kapiti.
