Well, I will keep this one short and sweet. Scottish has run out of ideas. Robinson is a good coach, a better-than-good coach. A passionate man with a great sense of the rugby game about him and a true love for his adopted Scottish brothers. However, the Scots seem to lack that instinct necessary to proffer off such a leader like Robinson.
The only Scotsman in the recent backline who had those necessary skills was Chris Paterson, the greatest kicker in European history. His backline organization skills and defense-stacking was second-to-none, especially considering the group of talent he was forced to work with. Just how many times were Scotland getting their shit stuffed in, and here comes CP in as a 60th Minute sub, and viola! just like that Scotland dots down a try off a turnover ball, locks down on defense, attracts penalties, and makes a game of it. Hadden was a total twat who was benching one of the greatest players and rugby minds on the continent. Will never forget that French match when Scotland was getting trampled and here comes in CP with 18 to go. Within five minutes, Scotland rallied for two tries set up by massive boots by Paterson, and a full-field chase down tackle into turnover ball by the man himself.....and with 10 to play, France is screaming on the backfoot with the Scots bleeding for the win.
Outrageous.
He will be missed.
And now Scotland shall be dealt Laidlaw, who showed immediate spark off the bench against the English. Yet, the jury is still out on him, as it should be.
The Welsh will keep this game simple. Stretch the ball wide, keep it out of the middle, where the Scots will try to bog them down, and look for quick responce on turnover ball, which due to weather or not, the Scots were more than happy to grant the English last weekend.
In a nutshell, the Welsh strength is their backline. Fluid, nimble, and highly opportunistic. This spells doom for a proud Scottish side which will want to quiet the game down in order to keep it in hand.
Unfortunately, that won't be this weekend.
