I caught a glimpse on fox sports today something about the big punters are being turned off on betting on league due to the impact the refs are having on the games?

rothfield wrote an article about it, so it's full of shit

no proof in the article backed up by numbers, no comments from any bookmakers, just Eddie Haysen saying this is why he doesn't bet league anymore.

And here I was saying he doesn't bet league anymore because his boys no longer play in the NRL. Silly me

If it is true, i wouldnt expect the bookmakers to confirm it.

First off, they are a a sponsor of the league and a few teams. They would try and maintain the integrity of the league, after all, they are pouring cash into it, UNLESS, there was a conspiracy against them, ie, Tandy

If the refs are costing these big punters, why would the books complain, it would scare off other punters and at the end of the day, they collected off the big punters.

I must admit, in 2 of my bets yesterday, the Panthers game, it should never have gone over, The try in the second half for the Panthers which pushed it over was forward by a metre. There was 5 mins left when that happened.

I had over in the raiders game, 2 tries, Dugan knock on and Orfords 5 metre forward pass. I know the Tigs scored 49 points, but if those tries never happened, you never know what would have happened.

I had the cows, looking back at it, Lyon didnt knock it on, also, the try to Hoppa should have been an 8 point try. Furthermore, Manly didnt get a fair game, penalties etc.

However, the try to Beale on fri should never have been allowed.

I had the titans, i would have lost it  if they lost, the refs did everything in there power to give the game to the roosters.

The refs have a massive influence on the game.

it works both ways. You never hear a punter complain when the ref fuck up goes their way. Or when a punter gets info before the books do.

Haysen is a myth anyway, so its no suprise that rothfield is giving him the publicity he loves. Doesn't he owe six figures to multiple books? It would be interesting to see if he is winning on the AFL.

anyway, didn't all 8 favourites win on the weekend, so why complain now?

and as usual rothfield has to sensationalse an issue. Can't just run a story on referee mistakes/

players make more mistakes then the refs

people expect the refs to be perfect, while at the same time forgiving players for dropped balls, missed tackles, etc

    there's no great conspiracy

as i have said before, refs ON THE FIELD have made errors for the past hundred years and will do so for the next hundred years.

Why do the refs on the field, and players make mistakes? Fatigue, blind sighted, looking at something else, concentraion lapses etc. They are human beings full stop,

HOWEVER, when someone is sitting in the box, who is not subject to the same factors as the men on the field are and who also get slow mo replay after replay after replay, there is no excuses.

Yes, sometimes when a bomb goes up and you CANT see whose hands it came off, or the camera angle is inconclusive, then yes, those can go either way and i can accept , BUT, when everythibg is very clear, replay after replay, all the commentators and fans agree on what should be the ruling and the opposite happens, i am sorry but one must feel thee is corruption, there is NO excuses, NONE, ie Gasnier v manly last year and Soward v Dogs 2 years ago. There are many more i can name as well.

so Homer Simpkins was on the take the other night in the cowboys/manly game?

no one is perfect, least of all idiots sitting in a booth at the top of a stand. Who says they are the best people for the job. The whole video ref process is flawed anyway, typical of the decisons of the gallop administration - all reactionary. The worst decision I have ever seen was Bill harrigan in the booth on the Monday night last year. His penalty? Promotion to the top job

shit happens, it all evens out anyway

selectors had a love affair with the dragons when they were massive chokers, but this is beyond a joke. Never before have I seen this.

but with daley, fulton and mccarthy involved nothing suprises me

cuthbertson got picked for City, didn't he?

Name me one valid reason why Harrigan made that decision? I just need 1 reason and  i will be happy.

There is absolutely NO valid reason why he made that decision, even if one had 25 beers, smoked 10 cones and popped 3 ecstacy tablets, snorted 5 lines of coke and hadnt slept for 2 days wouldnt have said that was a try.

So what was his reason? the only possible answer is corruption. There is nothing else that can explain it.

of course, mainly cause i am working 10-11 hrs a day, multi tasking, getting asked 5 different questions by 5 different people etc etc.......again, fatigue, loss of concentration, complex queries.

Completely different to sitting in a box getting replay after replay after replay , furthermore my 9 yr old nephew sitting next to me knows if a try is a try or not....

Funny thing is, in the cows game, i said Lyon knocked it on, i was certain he knocked it on....Why, cause i was blinded by the bet i had on the game......

Someone else also agreed with me that it was a knock on....The man in the box....
