That's why i laugh sometimes when Americans say 'We would dominate rugby
if we played more" when Australia hardly even plays rugby and we have
won two World Cups
Hahahaha....yeah, we Americans would be much better in rugby if we actually cared about it. Saying the Australians don't care about rugby is unfair. Surely they do. The Tri-Nations and NRL speaks volumes toward this. The U.S. has a few teams out in Colorado and Wyoming...hahaha...

Yesterday Emerton v Kewell in the A-League game between Melbourne and Sydney was the big news
The first 2 QF games barely rated a mention
Very sad to me.
I thought Aussies could give a flip about soccer?
OK....if you could rate the top five sports in popularity to Australians, what would they be? And if you put in V8 Supercars, I might have to enlist Chopper to start slapping the shit outta people down there....hahaha......
1) ? AFL
2) ? CRICKET
3) ? NRL
4) ? NBL
5) ? A-LEAGUE
Those be my guesses.
Enlighten me.

Recently Australia has gotten behind their national soccer team but even that is on the decline. With Kewell and Emerton playing in the A-League this season it has given the game a boost media wise for sure but hard to see that sustaining over the entire season

USA wouldn't dominate i dont think, i mean depending on how popular it was of course. They would be amazing though, top tier easily. But New Zealand and Australia would still be competitive, i mean England is horrible and they have a large population base too.
American's don't like playing against other countries though, they're too good for them in their opinion
If you have a look at the olympics for example, australia and new zealand are both top 5 per capita, so they put up a good show

Sorry but 90 years ago's olympics dont count

Then i have no idea about V8 vs Football vs Basketball
Contrary to what has been said I think union is pretty popular here, but that is only my view cause my school plays union. It's just the franchise of super 15 which isnt as popular, people pay attention to RWC and trinations for sure though. I didnt think the media had that much attention on football, but i only listen to the union news

Btw I think the most popular (overall) would be
1) AFL
2) Rugby league/union, many people follow both
3) Cricket

Well, seems like Lievremont has finally figured out that it pays to be consistent and it consistently pays to announce your stronger XV!!! As I mentioned in this thread, I was crapping the bed when I saw the shockingly good starting XV he announced for the England match (yet still backed England HoH).
Well, with this same line-up, I think the head games are at a minimum and the confidence is there that the job at hand can be done, especially so close to the final.
Wales on the other hand are the in-form team of the tourney but will be under massive pressure to make their first ever final. Their sweeping backline play won't get as much run and pace against a stouter French defense as they did against a rather moribund Irish defense.
To me, that all adds up to France +2 as the play.
Also adding: New Zealand -7.
Told myself I would back the All-Blacks up to -9 before the weekend so glad to see -7 come out.
Again, think Australia's opposition is the better side at the moment, much like South Africa were, and will go with that. And also again, will still be rooting for the Wallabies to win.
Would love to see an Australia v. Wales Final.....but I don't think we will get there.

HoH, you think the wallabies!? are the more in form team? I'm reallly surprised, maybe they looked in form playing RSA but only because both teams were so shitte, NZ aren't on their game. true. But still far more in form than aus.
