I knew rugby league players are the dumbest athletes on the planet. But this just takes sheer stupidity to another level.
3 minutes left, 3rd tackle, 30 metres out up by 6...
I suppose it would require a too intelectual thought above him to just direct traffic in the middle of the park and take a shot or bury the ball into the corner...
Best player in the world
Here is a thought. Back in 02, Joey Johns came back from a long layoff on injury (just as long if not longer than Thurston just did) and on his first game back absolutely molested the Broncos....
Now compare that to Thurston last week who after a similar layoff, produced an all time stinker......
Now he follows this up with just a simple brain dead play that was not even required.....
I knew there were some dumb human beings on this world, but this takes a new low...
best player in the world my ass.....

Comparing Thurston to Johns
Rostos you kill me the way one game or even one play determines a player's standing in the game. I think you guys are seriously guilty of having rose tinted glasses when it comes to Andrew Johns because the Andrew Johns I remember did a lot of bonehead things on the field along with the brilliant things.
Mistakes are part and parcel for good attacking players. Guys like Thurston and Johns et al who always look to push the envelope and constantly look for opportunities are going to come up with the occasional clanger like JT did last night.

Tell me the last time the Broncos were up by 6, 3 minutes left, 30 metres out, 3rd tackle and Lockyer throwing a cutout high risk pass?
If Thurston drops the ball - no compalint here, it happens.
If Thurstons kicks the ball out on the full, it happens.
If Thurston misses a simple FG, it happens.
I am not blaming a mis-execution in skill here.
I am refering to his brain and how f###ing dumb he is....One of the dumbest people i have seen....
There is ZERO excuse for what he did - ZERO.
All the good players, wont even touch the ball for the first 5 tackles, they will scream at there forwards to drive the ball to the posts - any human with a IQ above 50 that is....In all honesty, there are some pretty stupid people who play league and he is arguably one of the dumbest.
He just cost his team a top 4 spot

fair enough - I was watching that game with a mate of mine who's a cowboys fan so was barracking for them to get home and we were yelling at the tv for them to make two more runs towards the goalposts then go for a field goal. It WAS very surprising that Thurston chanced an attacking raid down the short side because it left the door open for exactly what happened - a Souths intercept.
Dumb play in the situation no doubt about it.
All I'm saying is don't judge JT on that moment of madness alone. His good has far outweighed his bad over his career
