I am Belgian, and I don't think we'll win against the US. I'm not getting into it here, but the main difference is experience, better tactical coaching and the US team plays as a unit, Belgium still plays as a collection of individuals. I hope I'm wrong, of course.

Im german so my heart doesnt really influence my pick in this game. Honestly, I think belgium will get problems. Belgium style is typical european, just like germany, portugal or spain. They have the ball and try to find the holes in the defense of their opponents. The only difference is that they are not as good as the germans. They are the light version. And similar to germany, they are vulnerable with counter attacks. And that's exactly what the US wants. Until now Belgium didnt convince me in one single match. The US did - three times now. They are strong, organized and they can always put on the net. I would be careful with belgium. Not saying they cant win, but it might be a draw with over time. And I would always take the US warriors when it comes down to the physical aspect. Plus the 'home court advantage' for the USA

I know there is no 100% guarantee! But, I really think the US is done.

Obviously, last week I was wrong about Bosnia and it cost me big, could lose again, that's why it's called gambling! My money is on Belgium and more will be very soon!

This game will likely fall into my system play, so will be backing USA and the Draw.

Dirk and Ganda offered the best analysis of anyone on this thread. I agree with everything they have said and believe that the USA will prevail in this one. I have backed Belgium myself to this point and it has been successful. Its really a coin flip game, but the unit and stronger team will usually prevail over talent. Just ask the Miami Heat. Losing twice in the Finals to team ball and nearly a third time. And hey, Im a Heat fan who can speak subjectively.

I agree 100%  that when you look at individual talent, the Belgian team is heads and shoulders above the Americans, but they don't play as a cohesive unit.

This guy has no clue. Belgium has shown nothing all tourney long they have won on late goals also they have a team with little wc experianced honestly this had to be the best match up for the USA

Lets give a little credit, only 4 teams won all their matches in group play, that is an accomplishment and Belgium has at least shown some resiliency and individual talent and teams like Russia and Algeria are tough to break down for anyone.

The US is on the same level as teams like Greece, Algeria, Nigeria, and maybe even Costa Rica.  They are not on the same level as Belgium, who, for some inexplicable reason is being treated like they laid an egg.

Only 4 teams registered 9 points in group play. Belgium was one of them. Only 3 teams allowed just 1 goal to be scored against them. Belgium was one of them. In fact, Belgium is the only team to make both of those lists. Furthermore, they beat So Korea even though they were playing 10 against 11 and didn't have their best team on the field.

People are, quite frankly, being stupid when it comes to their evaluation of Belgium. This is a bad matchup for the US team.

USA fan here and I think we need to keep a little perspective on what they have accomplished so far.  Yes they made it out of the supposed Group of Death but they did so with just about everything going their way, save for the loss of Jozy Altidore who may not be lighting up the stat box but is the key to us getting out of our own end with his hold up ability.

They beat a Ghana team that played arguably their worse game at the tournament, tied a Portugal side that was missing 4 starters and with Ronaldo not at 100%, and lost to a German team that controlled the entire game and basically did what they want, the sloggy pitch and the consistent downpours throughout the game the only thing that saved us from a more massive beating.

Our midfield is weak, and if Altidore is out again and Dempsey needs to play up top than our midfield is really weak.  The US just cant survive with guys like Kyle Beckerman, Brad Davis, and Graham Zusi in the midfield.  They might be good for the MLS but I think most of us know that the MLS is the equivalent to triple A baseball.  They struggle with the speed and pace that teams that quality sides offer and they just dont have the on field IQ to be effective against these squads.  On top of that we have a very young defense who has so far played pretty well but is one cross away from a missed assignment or being caught out of position.

Bottom line to me it comes down to the midfield, and the USA will struggle against any team that has quality midfielders, and last time I checked Belgium has quite a few.  If they can bring all the individuals together and play as a team the US could very well be demolished as daytrader says.  If they dont they should still advance at the end of the day.  The US will always give you a full effort to the final whistle but in the final 16 it comes down to talent, and in my opinion Belgium just has too much.

a bunch of belgium players play in the premier league,,,and when they get off there game they will get frustrated and start fouling...expect 2 yellows or a straight red for a belgium player
