Their captain 'Yepes' is possibly the worst defender I have seen at international level. He is way past it and should have been put to stud but such is the politics of retaining familiar (past their used by date) players, that unless something is done drastically to overhaul their defence, Colombia will be fortunate to get out of the group stage in Brazil. Also I believe Colombia are also without their solid goalie Vargas and have an old and faithful 'mark swarzer' type called 'Mondragon' filling the role.
Falcao is overrated. His recent form has been ordinary. As another poster pointed out, Falcao needs a lot of direct feed to play well. Look for the likes of Cuadrado (Fiorentina), Fredy Guarin (inter), Carlos Sanchez (Elche), Teo (River Plate) and Rodriguez (Monaco) to impress for Colombia, but other than that I can't speak very highly of the recent form of Colombia. If Fredy Guarin is having an 'on' day (because he is either exceptional or woeful) then that will pose some problems for Belgium.
I hope I am wrong of course, but I think Belgium SHOULD win this game. It depends on how serious the teams will approach the match as to whether the over hits.
I am just looking forward to seeing the quintessential South American salsa football style against this still relatively new European power in football. I am just as interested in the England - Chile match tomorrow because I love to see the different styles clash.
Bring it on. I hope they play the match like it means something.
