unorganized. just toss out what discussed and whatever.
Im leery of the rule change, this might be the start of a new era, we will see. because these trends are connected closely to the away-goal approach. already saw this last week in Scotland. where the under blew up in faces. as mentioned, with last years rules theres no way earth Rangers would even TRY to cross midfield in the 2nd half being down 2-1 at break. the 4 goals the previous week pretty much dictacted they wouldnt need to do anything. but with the new rules? they were basically just one more goal from being taken to xtra time. and im having these SAME thoughts with that Pool match next week. Jurgen might not be content with parking the bus.last year? h*ll yes. THIS year? im not entirely sure.
as always, these 2nd legs can make us look pretty stupid. deflections go into net and suddenly a boring match ends up going sideways as all h*ll breaks loose.
UCL trends: just cut n paste from previous years. save typing. 1) Teams whom won first leg on road by 2+ goals, theres been less than 3 goals in reverse fixture. UCL, 7-2 past 3 years (21-7 in past decade); defend, protect lead, save energy. (taking these lightly)
City/Sporting U3 @+120 Pool/Inter U3 @-122
2) past 5 years club whom won first leg on road has a 29-3 record in regards to advancing. nothing this round. (Pool + City hit this criteria) 3) of course, our favorite. Pep putting his foot on opponents throats.

Bayern/Salzburg - would like to think the Austrians have a chance, after all its level and ball is round. but 72% possession and double the amt of shots/corners while on road? Im not willing to fade Bayern net week in hopes of misfiring a 2nd straight match when theyre in Allianz. not when Lew was held quiet too. taking a juiced 3.5 isnt worth it with the away goal rule no longer around. PASS.
**** In a way, im hoping Inter wins this one and advances. you guys see the dates for Qtrs???? thats a possible Derby de Italia-Scudetto-deciding-mother-of-all-SANDWICH-spots in April. come on Pool.... roll over!!! **** Pool/Inter - last time someone visited Anfield - Roma, full of confidence (and themselves) - had Semi-final date up there. Pool took a 5-0 lead on them (tears of joy falling on cheeks). anyways, felt Inter were the better side in the 1st half, had the better chances and Cal thumped one off the woodwork, an inch lower and its 1-0; surely would have changed how the remainder of that match played out and Im not entirely convinced Klopp would have pushed for that 2nd goal had the away goal rule been still in place. pitch tilted heavily in 2nd tho; not to take anything away from Pool but that was a god-awful sched Inter went thru, derby/roma/napoli then an EPL Big-boy in 11 days??? expecting to see a much better match next week, completely forgot Barellas suspension was TWO matches, so thank you for the correction. good enough to advance? probably not. but they wont be intimidated by Anfield, those players have been in far bigger matches in their lives. but this is Pool, and thats Klopp over there, and theyre down 0-2 so Inzaghi will NOT be able to approach the game according to their strengths. I STILL think playing 3 in the back @Anfield when you are in need of goals is suicidal but this is what Inzaghi going to have to do. and Im afraid their backline going to get caught out. Klopps MO, if you look at the past years results in 2nd legs, he protects leads first. so this is where Inter might have a shot if they can find the net early. theyll give it a "go", but if you are thinking of backing Inter on the HC my advice would be to dial down the risk, if Pool finds net first or take the lead heading into break? Inter will stop trying. Scudetto is far far far more important than risking injury while chasing a 3 goal deficit on road. Id advise backing Inter to score first as it pays much better than the full match +HC line. I cannot see them covering a HC if Pool scores first guys. (just my thoughts)
Vidal to be booked @+200 i forgot Barellas suspension. he does not have the legs anymore to do the job Barella does for them; hence, his need to play more physical.

total goal combo: have those 'under' trends. might get both. Bayern is 2.5, other three 1.5; @-115
City/Sporting
3) Pep putting his foot on opponents throats. Our favorite 'Modus Operandi'. Pep. started this back when he was running the show in Camp Nou which seems like a half century ago. then Bayern. and now City. Pep in 2nd legs - regardless what the 1st leg result was - has his clubs just try put foot on opponents throats quickly and remove any thoughts of them possibly 'having a chance'. score, or be scored upon. thats Pep. remember, this was during a day/age where the away goal was in effect; and within the coaching ranks a time where the general approach would be to simply protect your advantage by switching up formations. Pep just blew that thought process into the Atlantic. for the record, City is 9-1 since hes been there (almost similar with Munich). and fyi, that one loss in this trend which City had when it was scoreless past the 30 min mark.....Kev & Friends ended up banging in 7 that match. go figure. h*ll, this is 9-1 needing just 15 minutes. thats Pep & City in a nutshell. in any case, as always, no guarantees and dont go emptying budgets. ManC/Sporting goal before 23rd minute: Yes @-120 and double up on that.
- for those of you considering the prices on Citys over, Id pay heed to caution on that. Under Pep, City has always played conservative after the road win. just once in 7 times 3+ reached.
Real/PSG - PASS. its not like I needed to be reminded, but Karim just hosed a nice combo last weekend. cant wait when he retires. Im not touching a match with him on pitch. he drills me a new one every time.
UEL: just one for now Seville TT O1.5

yoro, hope all is well with self/fam & tks fer stopping by. thats a pretty accurate comment. asked a friend to dig something up for me (hes a former club statistician so he loves this stuff): past 5 years theres been 56 pairings in KOs over two legs. just 20 times has a club won BOTH matches. comes to about 35% sweep. when you think about it, this includes pretty much every BIG-BOY behemoth in europe. so yes, it IS a tough thing to do. stats back it up. GL with Lyon, havent seen a minute of any their matches this year but it does look solid.
Boll/Doc put you two together. this is City we are talking about, so you might want to keep the rolaids nearby. put those plays in LAST week to keep self from changing mind. this kind of reminds me of that Basel match few years back (before Covid). 4 goal advantage and lose 1-2. kicking myself whole week for at least not doing a 'runner' there. anyways, last year they had a cleansheet win in 1st leg vs that German squad; then Peps guys banged in 2 the first 18 minutes @Etihad & then its like "all right, our work is done here for the evening". and played keep-away all night. 70% possession with just 10 shots? you kidding me? thats Pep. forget the names for a second, here we have a team with a 5 goal advantage playing their 3rd in a week & coming off their major derby few days ago. and with their rivals breathing fire up their backsides for the title run up there they have to make a trip to an in-form opponent this weekend whom have already beaten them once this year. in my mind, thats a 'fade' no matter whom it is. right? (pass me the Rolaids please and lets pray)
French Seville. i got them and WH in outright futures, so UEFA pairs them together Qtrs? i swear I have the worst luck in UEL.
Ben as always. hope all is well with self/fam. a little pressed with time, have a ?? for you, will stop by live thread later if you still around.

i feel bad for anyone whom had Salah on a goal prop. sweet jesus first Lionel misses a PK, now him blows up a combo.

adding: (edit) Real/PSG - im in, join markus' wagon here. hard to ignore, the h*ll with Benzema missing sitters or converting PK's (depending on whether Im on the over or under). Real......during KO's, the 2.5 has hit 11 of past 12 @Bernabeu (including the btts). and since I believe PSG can find back of net again we are looking at some pretty wide open play the final 20 minutes as they are already up a goal. btts + O2.5 @-120
UEL: i hate 1st leg 'overs' in this comp, tho its probably not 'THE' reason it probably contributes to it - the removal of the away goal rule, and suddenly the btts hits in 7/8 and the over 6/8 last KO round. un-UEL like for certain. Seville TT O1.5 @+120 Atalanta/Leverkusen btts + O2.5 @-111 Rangers/Crvena btts @-115 (adding) Barca TT O2.5 @-135 - nice catch. had already thought about this but didnt like the juice; that was a decent midfield/backline they tore apart in Naples the previous round. but unlike some coaches whom have never played, Xavi 'been there, done that' for long time with Barca so he understands the 'planning' part of it all and being out there on the pitch. if you take a peek, that 2nd leg in Turkey is a few days before Classico. and i have a gut feeling Barca will continue to push forward and try to make that 2nd leg as meaningless as they possibly can. i could care less if Galat parking a bus the full 90, its not like theyre going to have the ball much anyways. so heres to hoping their finishing is on par as Xavi has them playing really well lately.
Copa Sud: LDU Quito to win @+115, Mushuc/LDU O2.5 @-110

thats enough. now back to Serie A this wknd. guess who in a Sandwich spot guys.

Spec--spared having to take the Rolaids today ...you nailed it! speaking of Benzema you only can blow some many of those chances, and that gift really turned it around...still hard to believe PSG coughed up 2 more, but then again it is Real Madrid in the CL....cheers!

Conference: Vitesse/Roma - can Mou make it through a week without complaining about something? tho have seen worse, pitch does look like a rugby match was played on it last night. anyways, Mou sending a fairly strong side up there and tho the Dutch are playing well, I still think its still a step up in class for them. and all 8 of Romas UEC games seen 3+ so wits worth a shot at these prices Vitesse/Roma O2.5 @-120

Benz! Hala Madrid. PSG have phycological issues, after Mbappe scored TWICE (one disallowed), I thought they were going to steamroll us. Two different teams in each half, wild stuff. Just dropping in to say hello. Appreciate you as always, hope all is well with you and yours my friend.

WCI first and foremost, good the hear from you again old friend and hope all is well with self/fam friends were talking about PSG the other night. "psychological issues" ?? you know, when you think about it, werent they even booted from their Cup as well? they pretty much have the domestic title all but wrapped up. and we are barely into March, theres STILL 2 months remaining. practically nothing left to play for. thats got to be a lousy feeling in that locker room. at least City have their rivals to keep things interesting up there, Munich has Dort, Real in a battle too, even Serie A is going to come down to the wire. not to mention all still being in europe (for now). and all that $$ psg spent on/for that roster, getting Lionel too. to have a ton of 'meaningless' matches from here on out for their fan base must s*ck. you know, of course those EPL teams get players in transfer markets cause of the UCL, im sure thats PART of the reason they sign (along with the $$), but also the competition and going up against other top talent weekly. i mean, i dont know; im not in their shoes. but why sign with a club when theyre faced with a possible situation like this yearly. Donn has been getting ripped by Milano fans past few days. ehhh, anyways. Benzema, by my account, i need about 35-40 more performance like that before breaking even. he's hosed me soo many times the past decade even when CR7 was there he found ways to make life miserable.
typical UEL performance: why do I even bother. Crvena missed PK; Barca 70 possession, 13 corners, 20 shots, 0-0; and another Mou Special.
