IMO, this is the price for a fast flowing game. You have one ref who makes virtually every decision with minimal consultation with anyone else. They're only one person making split second decisions. It's only natural that some might be wrong.
Contrast that with NFL or NBA. There's 7 refs in NFL and 3 in NBA. For flagrant fouls in NBA they almost always review the videotape before making ejections unless it was really obvious.
If they did that with soccer, people would whine about how the game has gotten too slow.

For the record, don't pretend to know me.
I have my own system of betting games. I have chosen to isolate my models to find me high probablitly over games. That's what my spread sheets are fined tuned to. You don't like it? Fine. I don't purport to be an expert .. I purport to be very knowledgable.
The same way people only bet home dogs, unders, home favoritesm I choose to stick my own system that has proven profitable.
As for the call, we can disagree like gentlemen but when the personal attacks come out in defence of your own opinion (of which there was really no objective argument than "you are wrong and pretty much an idiot) then that is really a reflection on you.
I merely gave my opinon. You can chose to disagree with it but at least be a man about it and disagree with some respect.
Of note is that the Guaridan did a poll yesterday (british newspaper) and 50% of those polled agreed with the call and 50% disagreed. That really shows how the call could have gone both ways.
I'm not justifying my play on the over. The over bet was made on the basis of 12 on 12. Did it help? Yes. However, the game could have easily ended 1-1. The game was already 1-0 at that point and Real Madrid needed to chase the away goal anyways... it is merely hindsight to say the game would have stayed under or gone over even 11 on 11.
So do me a favor ... you got a beef with my interpretation of the rule then give me yours. Your complete lack of ability to debate a point without resorting to attacking the person giving the opinion is more a reflection of your own ignorance than it is your purported thoughts about me.
You sound like you probably had money on Man U or the under. that's that's the only justification I can have for you attacking rather than debating.
It's too bad I see you are fron Italy. As a fellow Italian I am embarassed that you lack any ability to debate a point with any intelligence.

I take it you had Man U. It is the only possible reason why you choose to attack me and not debate the issue.
By the way as I mentioned in my previous post ... don't be so naive about your stance on the issue.
The guardian from the UK is running a poll on the issue:
51% as of today think that the red card was the correct decision.

no GSP ... I said that the bet was made on the basis of 11 v 11.... in HINDSIGHT it may have helped but we will never know that. Hindsight analysis is always 20/20 which is why it's pointless.
The debate here is over the red card .. and typical of heated discussion it morphs into something bigger.
We can't say for sure that the red sealed the deal for Madrid like we can't say that Man U would not have held Madrid to 1-0 or perhaps even 1-1.
The argument I made had everything to do with my view on the card. We had some healthy debates on twitter last night ... I thought most of the covers crowd was mature enough to engage in healthy debate. Instead, as is typical, we start pointing fingers at each other like we are actually taking money from one another.
My intent was not to argue my intent was to debate .. for reasons I can't fathom it morphed into finger pointing and has gotten way out of control as evidenced by the fact we are still talking about it long after the game.
I prefer not to harp on hindisght where bets are concerned. Again, I had nothing to say about the game I had everything to say about MY OPINION on the card.
I didn't once accuse anyone who disagreed with me of "knowing nothing about the game".

Duly noted.
I think we can also debate how quick Mourinho acted after the red card while it took Ferguson 12 minutes to make a move after that or the fact that Ferguson's starting 11 left out Rooney.
I love debate and discussion about my favorite game. I heard one analyst last night talk about how after viewing it again he changed his view and agreed with the red. I wish I can remember the guys name, it was on Sirius' soccer channel .. they had so many guests on with so many opinions that the actual name escapes me now. My friends and I were talking about it most of the night last night and we were pretty much split on the call as is most of the public that is replying to the Guardian's poll over in England.
The reality is, we can all difffer on the call that was made on the field. That's the whole purpose behind debate. Of course Manchester United backers for the most part will disagree with Madrid Backers and fans of each team alike will disagree with each other. The same goes for over/under bettors.
Again though, I thought I would initiate some healthy discussion and a mature debate. Judging by most of the replies though, it seems that people can't seperate their betting emotion from that (not accusing you of this Mr. Bollox). Disagreeing with one another is one thing. Resorting to immature name calling and finger pointing amongst covers members for voicing an opinion about a referee's decision is quite frankly immature.
So much for trying to start a discussion about an actual play in the game.
The decision can't be changed but boy would it have been fun to have a healthy debate ... so much for that! lol
Cheers

GSP ... I tries to debate the CARD not the game. I won't take back what I feel about the card. The game is a different issue altogehter.
I wasn't the one pointing fingers accusing anyone that disagreed with me of knowing nothing of the game.
In fact, I trust you've seen the poll conducted by The Guardian over in England. Voting right now has over 50% of respondents agreeing with the decision to award Nani a red card. It is not as clear cut as any of us want it to be. I was strictly debating the card. It quickly went off in other directions that were unintended but again, I wasn't the one trying to state that anyone disagreeing with me was an idiot who knew nothing of the game.
By neutral I meant I had no rooting interest in either Man U or Real Madrid nor am I a fan of either team. If you misunderstood that point then I apologize for not making it clearer.
Disagreeing with a referee's decision is one thing. Accusing someone of disagreeing with it of being an idiot or knowing nothing of the sport is naive and ignorant. By that standard, legendary Man U Captain Keane is also an idiot who knows nothing of the game?
Peace and love ... I'm not hear to fight with people. I'm here to work as a collective to try to beat the books. Good luck in your future bets as well.
And watch that Guardian poll ... voting ends soon.
Regards
