Never going to change. Those folks bet with money they either don't have or can't afford to lose. They get themselves in a hole betting/chasing the NBA/NHL Finals or something then look to see what the next thing to get that money back is...
NEXT THING YOU KNOW, you've got someone who doesn't even watch the sport calling their book first thing in the morning to put 2,000 on Columbia/Greece.
Here in the soccer forum we call that the A-LEAGUE LOCK.
Other times it may be referred to as the HAWAII HOME GAME POY.
