early start. heading out soon. no time midweek, didnt even bother editing. toss up what had written earlier in week.
Serie A:
Juventus/Fiorentina - when history collides (laughing) if this wasnt the early one, it'd be 'hammer' status. fyi, Juve are cr*p in the early starts; "Vampiros" (vampires) is what we joke about. Juventus tends to play poorly when sun is out. perhaps on paper it looks nice but these early starts.. it just takes us forever to get out of 2nd gear. to show you im not talking out of side of mouth; our first adventure this year resulted in a scoreless draw vs Fiorentina (but i kind of excuse that one as it was a 'sandwich' spot) but then came that 2-2 vs Sassuolo, last year a late PK by Christian got a 2-1 win over Samp, lost to Genoa 2-0. etc etc... now the 'good stuff', this decade league losses are few and far between; but when we do lose? hell hath no fury for thy next opponent, wont bore with stats but in the past 5 years (before we've clinched Scudettos) Juve is 12-0 off a loss domestically, and many of those by the 2+ goals variety. Christian is on fire going for a share of the club record which quite a few of us thought would never be reached/broken (self included) - of 9 straight with a goal. and Viola just had a draining Wed evening Coppa match losing a close one to Inter over there in San Siro. and they are also missing two key defenders for this one. so its bad enough theyre on short rest but also get stuck with Juve off a loss with Christian scoring goals for FUN again while missing 2 regulars in their backline. one thing worth to note ...tho Fiorentina have lost their last 5 visits here and have just 1 win in the past 12 trips to Turin, ONLY two of those losses were by more than 2 goals so along with the early start, it kind of makes this risky so dialing down and Juve -1.5 @+105
(fyi, i HATE -1.5 lines in domestics)
Lazio/SPAL - too juiced. he might be leading Serie A, but Mr. Selfish - right on cue - disappeared in the Super Cup vs Juve, Coppa as they were knocked out, and the big derby last week. the "bigger" the match? the harder it is to find him. now they get a creampuff. Immobile to score 2+ @+160. hes banged in 7 himself the last 4 meetings vs these guys. between him & Christian, split right down the middle in fantasy selection.
Bologna/Brescia - Bologna coach (Mihajl.) remitted back to hospital complications to his chemo - god bless him - so unsure how this will affect the team. they havent put up a cleansheet since Sept. Brescia at the bottom and hopefully find a way to survive. these two had a barnburner back in Sept and this sets up similarly. btts + over 2.5 @evens
Cagliari/Parma - PASS. Cagliari free-falling. i like them here to stop the slide but rule of thumb is to not back teams in poor form. at least not with juice..
(taking a chance here)
Sass/Roma - Sass near the top in total goals for Serie A, yet have 2 scoreless draws & 3 other 1 goal matches. go figure. Roma with an undeserved draw last week in their Derby and now have a bunch of teams within striking distance breathing fire up their butts. theyre unbeaten here in past 6 visits and on top of that, have conceded just 1 goal. and havent lost to Sass in all 13 matches the past 7 years. but a buddy gave mention of big "problemos" coming out of Darth Vader land this week as their Captain (Florenzi) is about to be sign with Valencia on loan. cant speak for other countries, but this kind of stuff never goes well in Serie A (see the Icardi-mess last year). the midfielder has been with the club forever it seems and is a large part of their success before falling out with head coach Fonseca. and now Roma has a hole the size of a crater to fill in the midfield, and not only that, he was their captain. going against history and taking a shot with the home underdog very nicely priced too, Sass +1/2 @+115, and toss some on the outrights @+330, they should not be in teh 300s. and theres been 2+ goals in 2nd half in practically all of Sass home games so ill drink the juice on this one Sass/Roma over 1.5 @-133 (2nd half)
Atalanta/Genoa - if ya want to? feel free. but for me this is a major PASS, it looks too "easy". i dont like touchdowns; and thats what Atalanta put up last week. they may lead Serie A by a wide margin with goals scored, but half of that 57 total came in 5 matches. i also dont like juice, and Atalanta has a serious allergy to LOTS of juice. 5 times juiced to the moon this year 400+, lost twice (SPAL/Cagliari), needed an injury time winner in another, and fell behind in the other two. but problem with Genoa is everybody scores on them. PASS.
Milan/Verona - no disrespect to Verona, theyre tough nut to crack and having an incredible year thus far; but Milan has that karma/mojo/voodoo whatever-the-heck-you-call-it going for them big time. 5 straight, not winning pretty but theyre winning. and similar to that 3 month Napoli-fade, just keep riding this till they lose. Milan -1 @+120 Verona is NOT fond of San Siro - actually, the place is a nightmare for them having never won here. small play, keeping in mind Milan just played 120 minutes last night in a pretty emotional evening. Zlat came on as a sub, but with the xtra time he still ende up out there for almost an hour. so not sure if hes getting the start sunday. and not sure how much left in the tank for Milan going up against a rested opponent; at least they didnt have to travel.
