Sunday is here and that means more plays, or in fact this time - only one play for me as I prefer to go a little 'bigger' rather than spreading my units out on leagues I am not really into. I found one game that I really like and am ready to take it for such a good price considering the circumstances. This does not mean that it is a sure winner, because nothing is ever safe in the gambling business but I like the chances.
Three units goes to Maritimo with confidence and it feels like only an early red card should be able to make this bet a losing one (something that have been a trend of mine in previous losses..my pick often getting red cards haha) however, I have to go with these odds:
Maritimo have put their early season struggles behind them and are playing very well at home. They are from the island of Madeira in Portugal, which is considered the hardest place to go to behind the "big 3" (Porto, Benfica, Sporting). Madeira is quite patriotic and has an atmosphere that makes it tough for visitors - perhaps extra hard on poor road teams like Belenenses who are 0-3-7 on the road with only 3 road goals scored. The question is if they have what it takes to handle a rather confident Maritimo team at their ground, who now has two home victories in a row (both clean sheets). Important right back Joao Diogo will be back for Maritimo which is good news
For Belenenses, poor travelers as they are, they have not scored in 9 of their last 10 league games and their offense is non existent. Their head coach has left the team due to health issues and they show no game plan, no structure and it is basically just a team playing for fun it looks like. They lack a leader and some discipline. Their two defensive midfielders Jonsson and Silva are both out. Other than that they have a full team. A couple of weeks ago, they played on the Madeira island against Nacional and lost 2-0. This will be a similar match and result, perhaps even worse. I will take my chances and these odds are too good not to take.
Another unit goes to the same game, but Maritimo with the -1 Asian handicap @ 3.00 (1 u)
Feels good, I do not see Belenenses stealing anything here unless Maritimo gets a red card or concedes a penalty early and giveaway a free goal. Go Maritimo and make this weekend a good one
Best of luck to all of you!

Kaiser - Let's do it :) I just started get into Portugal this season, have some friends from there living here and I just love the league, trying to get a good grip of it. Maritimo are a good side so, let's get it
Brit - Exactly, like you said, the odds are around 1.85 now, you can't have it at 2.00 anywhere at this moment. Good thing it is moving in our favour. You took it as well? BOL

With you on this one. Do you and/or your friends have any concern re Maritimo's offense? Of course, with Belenenses' offensive ineptitude perhaps Maritimo needs only one goal. Probably 1-0, perhaps 3-0, but hopefully not 0-0. Your thoughts on Maritimo's offense, please.
And, again, thanks for your analysis.

Padre - I feel Maritimo's offense should in normal circumstances deliver against opponents similar to themselves. Overall they look more reliable as a team lately after the transfer window. I saw Maritimo against Setubal (1-0 win) (Setubal are a team on one-two classes better than Belenenses) when they hosted them in Madeira, and they piled up chances and overall completely outplayed them. Just a tad better sharpness and they will score more.
I feel against Belenenses today, awfully poor on the road, Maritimo should get chances regularly, and sooner or later the goal/s should come.
Maritimo: 7th best offense in the league
Belenenses road defense/offense: 2-0 loss, 5-0 loss, 1-0 loss (Nacional, Braga and Rio Ave). So based on that, I feel the Maritimo offense should generate chances enough to take this by a two goal margin if they can be relatively effective.
BOL and hopefully we get this. At least the home win sounds good. I mean, Belenenses has not won a road game this year, they feel like the least threatening opponents to ruin a bet right now.

Good start with early pressure and good execution, kind of a sloppy goal by Belenenses to concede but hey - pretty expected from them, Maritimo keep this up now guys!

Padre - Red card due to a goal-attempt opportunity, was pulled down and he would have been pretty much clear with the keeper. We don't complain though :-)

Just about to play this game off today, control it, no need to chase a goal but just keep possession now with one man advantage for the rest of the game
Current odds with 45 minutes left Maritimo 1.02 - Draw 21.00 - Belenenses 81.00
Clearly we have every circumstance and factors in our favour now, let's not jinx anything yet though haha
I made a nice revered jinx it seems like.. complained in my opening message that my picks usually contains red cards for some reason, and for once - the opponent gets a red. Feels good to be on the right side for once
