Plainly put, my angle is that Gent will score today. Yes, we are a minnow club up against the mighty EPL side Spurs. Yes their players are worth 7 times what Gent's are worth on the transfer market. Our most expensive player Neto, wil fetch about the same as Spurs' back up goalie. You simply can't compare the budget, club tradition or experience in Europe.
But. Gent scored in ALL their Champions League games last season, except in the last one when Wolfsburg sent us home empty handed. We scored away against Zenit (only second Belgian club to do so), against Valencia, against Lyon and at home we even won a bunch of games in CL. I realize this is not exactly the same team, Kums and Depoitre have left since then, but the coach is the same and the team character is largely the same.
Yes, we tank in the league, lost early in the Cup and it has not been a great season at all, but decent results have come in Europe, after all, we're still here and we won against Spurs at home 1-0.
We will lose today. Unless Spurs don't care to advance and let us win or draw. But realistically, we will lose. But what won't happen is that Gent will sit back and try and protect that 1-0 lead. Gent will play ball, we will commit forward, leave ourselves open to counters and probably lose 3-1, 4-1. But it's that 1 goal I'm looking for. We have the talent, we have the speed with Simon and Perbet, we have a great free kick taker in Milicevic and Gent will NOT field a B team today. For our players, this is the biggest game of the season, for most the biggest game in their career, they will play their hearts out today and I think they'll have enough to get at least a goal.
Kalinic; Gigot, Mitrovic, Asare; Foket, Neto, Esiti, Saief; Milicevic, Perbet, Simon
This could be a likely line up.
My plays:
Tottenham-Gent BTS @ +125
Tottenham-Gent BTS and over 2.5 @ +163
Have a great day guys, keep in mind I don't keep a record, so take my "insight" for what it's worth. Still... One of the best on Covers.
