For me i love betting on the over in a game where both sides come into it in really bad form and therefore have to get 3 points, I also like the betting on the televised game for the Prem where a top 4/6 side is away to a side with a rawkus crowd, Which also provides a nice both teams to score option also.

When you see 4-5 unders in the morning games and then there is a game at 12:30. I don't care what the odds are at that point, over is a must play for me. I've done very well using this strategy.

goals for/goals against - especially in form and home/away. I consider "in form" for only the last week or less, unless there is a strong and convincing pattern of results either at home or away. in other words, what a team did 10 days ago or more is probably meaningless.
see if they have players at the top of the scorer's standings, both of the teams. are they in today's matchup?
attacking styles? counter-attacking?
visitor: if the visitor is a better team, that is to say higher in the league table AND LOST the previous match at home, they'll want to get off to an attacking start to get the 3 points.
schedule: how tired are they? how many days ago did they play? the more rested - more goals? what about the next game - how soon is it? will the manager rest some of the players? do the managers rank the next match higher w more urgency?
LIVE: if the visitor is a weaker team and scores first in the first few minutes, live bet over 2.5 goals asap.
Red Cards: usually kill the over. whomever is red-carded usually falls back to defend and might only counter-attack in a clear possibility. they might go for a draw (usually an under). the other team might go for only one goal and then not attack, to rest their players.
other cappers here: follow them.
*i don't know what i'm talking about.

i'm thinking that if I don't ever bet unders, then there is so much that i'm unaware of. I just can't get it into my brain that if the idea is to score, that in 90+ min. 2 teams of ten (w/o keepers) will not score.

I also like betting on the over in Bundesliga games that do not feature Bayern as the rest of the league is very mickey mouse and you can get high scoring games due to shocking defenses. Sometimes you end up paying a premium but it's worth it, I had the Leverkusen v Monchengladbach over 2.5 last week and Leverkusen were 2-0 up and coasting at home and then choked and lost 2-3, Comical stuff but i guess that does make the Bundesliga more interesting as you have so many inconsistent sides after Bayern that anyone can end up anywhere. I mean Hoffenheim were unbeaten until last week yet i don't think they make the CL, Hilarious.
The Serie A produces a few good overs also, That league is slowly finding it's feet again, I really enjoy watching Napoli/Roma/Inter/Lazio and even the likes of Genoa/Fiorentina/Atalanta are good to watch, Comfortably the 3rd best league in Europe after the Prem and La Liga.

The rest of the German League is Mickey Mouse ?
Are you kidding me. Those same Mickey Mouse teams continue to beat the best that England, Italy and Spain have to offer. German football is as good as any league in the world right now. It may also have a lot to do with the fact that Germany are the champions of this planet.

H2H history: if the teams historically go over or under when playing one another, it's usually an indicator of how well they matchup.
Recent matches: what a team did in October is meaningless in March. It's current form that counts.
Strength of schedule: scoring at home against poor defensive road teams should be expected. Scoring at home against good defensive road teams is an even better indicator of an offense's capabilities.
Questions: Are their goals coming against poor defenses or against good defenses as well? Are they giving up goals against poor offensive teams? Are they incapable of scoring against poor defensive teams? Is the bulk of their scoring coming at home, or is it more balanced? Are there are a lot of Own Goals and Penalty Kicks mixed in, or are they actually capable of scoring from open play?
1H/2H: if a teams tends to show literally nothing in the 1H, but then turns it on in the 2H, it might be too late for the over by the time they decide to turn it on. Reverse holds true as well (some teams barely even make it across the half way line once they grab the lead).
Leagues: Betting overs in low scoring leagues like Argentina D2, France D2, Italy D2 is like asking for trouble. Maybe you'll find the occasional team that plays a wide open style and can get their opponents to join in, but otherwise don't even bother.
Lines: the line is what it is for a reason. If a team's scored 100 goals in their past 5 games, but the total's shaded under, don't assume the lines makers are gifting you a win. There's a reason if you look deeper..

SwishSwish Thats exactly what i thought when i saw you back here after your 1 year hiatus.
Your last go around you had every Italian on this site ready to hang you. I get your pain over being English and a soccer fan, its tough watching us dominate while you fade into the background year in and year out. Seriously though.....Picking on German Football ?

My number 1 attraction is when neither team will be particularly happy to draw...as soon as I see one team would be quite happy to draw, it's a big turn off...of course there are lots of other factors and this is definitely not a rule, but this is a big one I like to look for...
agree with Bollox, formation is huge
agree with Franz, German football is very underrated

I didn't mean to get you worked up or offend you Franz, The Bundesliga thing just fell into my lap as the Leverkusen v Monchengladbach game popped into my head regarding poor defending. However, The Bundesliga bar Bayern is Mickey Mouse whether you like it or not, The past few years since Klopp left, I'd say it's struggling to compete with Ligue 1.
This year in Ligue 1 you have AS Monaco, Nice all battling PSG, Yet in the Bundesliga you have choke artist Dortmund being inconsistent as ever, You have Schalke being Schalke, Leverkusen being Leverkusen, Wolfsburg in disarray and Leipzig being a nice story but will fail miserably in the latter part of the season. I'd argue even Bayern this year under Ancelotti are a lot weaker than Pep's Bayern.
Is the Bundesliga competitive? No, Is it exciting? Maybe but for wrong reasons, Has it got elite players? No, I cannot see any case to make for the Bundesliga. Even your King, Guardiola is struggling in the Premier League, Which shows you how elite our league is, A guy who dismantled the Bundesliga is struggling here, Klopp is also struggling.
I don't hate you nor look to provoke you Franz, I just can't get on board with what you said regarding the Bundesliga however. The mere fact you have to resort to jibes about the National team shows you do not have a leg to stand on and even the CL theory, Again only Bayern prove that, You put Leverkusen/Schalke/Dortmund up against Pep's City or Arsenal and i'd back the English team all day.

Swish You arent offending me, youre offending anyone who follows Footie. Just because you have a very narrow view and understanding of German Football, doesnt give you any crediblilty by making moronic statements like calling every German side outside of Bayern " a Mickey Mouse " team. What do you actually know about German Football ? You are not original with you English Pompous attitude, its expected from the many years of bitterness over losing to German sides. You actually mentioned Arsenal as though it was a given that they will beat Bayern. Again, Baby steps. Try to beat a Pub side like Watford before you make dillusional assertions. Also, Pep is Spanish and no " King " in Germany. The name is Franz Bechenbauer " Der Kaiser ", and he is what England will never have. A winner of every trophy ever issued in Europe.
Take a leap of faith some day and turn the TV to a German football game ...ITS BLOODY BRILLIANT. They actually play to win ........Ooooops i forget, youre English. That whole winning thing is a sore spot
