Chill out Mack. I see way more of your posts in this thread than of Van's and that's not what people are looking for. You are cluttering the space and making it hard to find certain information. Thank you for starting your own thread..please stop posting so much in here. Appreciate it

I really hate everything about Cristiano's personality although I respect his hard work ethic I hate his sportsmanship toward the game (diving punk) and his arrogance to believe that b'c he's 2nd best (Messi is by far the best in the world at this time) in the world he'll win every contest he enters
Nothing really against Portugal other than they are heartless and play w/ no soul
Although I have a feeling that they get a result tomorrow

How in the fuck do you play 3 guys back on defense in the last 10 minutes of a 1-0 WC game?
You would have thought they would have learned their lesson from a wide open header on 87 minutes. I just kept screaming at the TV "push back" as I watched the whole midfield gladly stay 20 yards outside of the penalty area as NZ built up the attacks.
Unfuckingbelievable.
And I lost my NZ no points bet on that.

Van the problem there is you have a team playing it's first world cup game in Slovakia. New Zealand are very bad (worst team in the tournament I think) which does not bode well for Slovakia going forward. It was very naive and costly defending..Sadly the Books made MILLIONS on that goal. I can't believe the amount of people wordwide (not just on this forum) betting decent amounts of money on the 34th ranked best team playing in it's first world cup match. Slovakia are clearly the better team but the nerves and the occasion got to them. They had chances to kill the game off and never did. I had like a 30 buck bet on the over which missed too. In my thread I called it a capping nightmare this game. I really didn't think we would see an ending like that though. Feel sickened for people. It's s horrible way to lose a bet and just shows how difficult this game can be to cap.
If the bookies were down so far the is world cup they just went up. If I didn't know any better it looked like a fix! Sickening

Couple of things....
THE LINE WENT DOWN ON THIS GAME, NOT UP.
I have to believe that books did not make money on that goal as you say, based on the line move.
As for the game - a 5th grade soccer team knows that you put your midfield in the penalty box on build up attacks from the other team when you are defending a lead. This happened in the last 10 minutes several times!! Not once. It was tactical pure and simple, and Vladimir Weiss should be ashamed.
NZ pushed all their guys up, and Slovakias midfield stood and watched from 20 yards outside the box. And it wasnt like it was a quick strike counter attack - it was a slow build up that the midfield just dropped off and watched.

Hey Van a quick question for you. I got on Chile about a week ago @ -180 expecting it to be around -200 before kickoff. I did the same with Spain @ -360 again expecting that to be rough -400 by kickoff. Now here we are one day away from kickoff and both lines have moved the other way Chile is down to -155 at my book and Spain down to -350...Any thoughts?

My only thought is that you miscalculated a line move.
You cant place any credence on line moves in a tournament that only happens once every four years - lines by nature are not as tight as say MLB - and not as predictable.

They obviously played 5 on the back line all day - and pushed back even more most of the time.
With a loss on the board - it will be interesting to see their tactics for the remaining games - they really cant play for draws in their final 2 games - and I wonder how they will be able to cope with only having 4 back and playing a more attacking style.
But you never know - they might just sit back again....

WEDNESDAY JUNE 16
15. Chile / Honduras - Chile -173 (to win 2 units) - I really like Chile here - talent mismatch and style mismatch - Chile will run and gun and put shots on net - when Honduras gets behind, lookout snowball. Predicted final score Chile 3 Honduras 0.
16. Spain / Switzerland - Switzerland +1.5 -102 - (.5 unit) Against my better judgement, I will hold my balls and cough and hope for first game issues for Spain and no goals for as long as possible. Predicted Final score Spain 1-0.
17. Uruguay / South Africa - Uruguay PK -140 (5 units) (also worth a look at +145 to win, I bet the PK, but think that the win price is great too) - This will be my biggest bet to date - think this sets up nicely for Uruguay - they did what they wanted to do against France and got the draw - and now will set Suarez and Forlan loose on a defense that will have lapses. Uruguay is solid at the back, and I dont think you will see the breakaways that SA got against Mexico - and I think now that the first game is out of the way for SA - emotions wont be as high. Im sticking to my pretournament guns on this - if I am wrong it will be a lump.....Predicted final score Uruguay 2 SA 0.
Thursday June 17
18. Argentina / Korea - Over 2.5 +108 (1 unit) - I guess you have to have balls or stupidity to bet an over on this tournament, but this might be a good spot to start. Argentina should have scored a bunch against Nigeria - good goalkeeping kept them from converting - along with first game mistakes. I fully expect to see S Korea playing for a draw here - as that result would greatly help them qualify for the next round - and I think that style will hurt them here. Once the Argentines score - the game will open up greatly - but as we saw today with N Korea a team that wants to play defensively can often keep a team at bay for long periods of time. Im banking on an Argentina goal in the first half, and open play from there - I do think Argentina wins this game but the price is too steep for me - so a small bet on the over for me. Final score prediction Argentina 2-1.
19. Nigeria / Greece - Greece +.5 -109 (2 units) - Once again, sticking to my pretournament guns on this one. I dont think Greece is as bad as they looked against SK, and I dont think Nigeria is as good as they looked against Argentina. And that presents a good betting line. I am most concerned that Greece might press out of their usual defensive tactic and try to be something they are not - but Nigeria will be doing the same as both of these teams need a win - a draw wont suit either terribly well (although it is better for NIgeria than Greece). This is another hold my balls and cough plays - Predicted final score Greece 1 Nigeria 1.
20. France / Mexico - France +138 (1.5 units risked) - I think the line has finally risen above value for France - based on the perception (rightfully so) that they cant play together. But I think that Mexico's defensive lapses will provide the open door that France needs to pull it together. Mexico will be overmatched - and the lack of playmaking that we saw against S Africa will kill them here - France is disciplined on defense and will not let up a goal like S Africa did because of lack of concentration. France individual talent lifts them here - Predicted final score France 2-0.
