I locked the Lakers in a minute before seeing your message. I hope they don't have a letdown. They are coming off a loss at Dallas and lost at home to the 76ers last season. I don't think they will lose to them again. Their average margin of victory of the previous 3 home games against them is 22.3 so I guess I have taken the risk that they can beat an 11 point spread.

EVERY TIME I GET UP AT 2 I AUTOMATICALLY LOSE. I PERMANENTLY STINK AT SURVIVOR. THE LAKERS -11 should win by 18 to 20 but instead it'll be by 8 to 10 maybe even closer.

Finally got 2 wins in a row after a few miserable weeks.  Two blowouts nonetheless.  I don't want to push my luck, so I might take a break today...probably not.

I got back to 2 with Memphis Grizzlies -2.5 over the Knicks and then it looked like I was headed to another doomed loss with Over 190 in today's Bucks/Hawks game. However, it went into OT tied at 92 and pushed the amount over (the Hawks won 106-102).

I'm sure it's been said before, but you've got to pick teams besides the favorites with spreads. The spreads aren't guarantees as you point out 6 point favorites lose often enough... but had you picked the opponent you wouldn't have even needed the spread.

If a game's gonna be close and the spread is +- 4, probably take the +4 on most occasions depending on who's at home and who's the favorite. Taking the favorite to cover the points every game is not going to happen, these lines are there for a reason. 11 point favorite usually means the team's going to win by anywhere between 6 - 16, and obviously not a guarantee at all or 20+ like you said. If a team is supposed to win by 20+ they'll be favored by that much with a little "wiggle" room.

The games aren't played on paper though, which is why some lines are just wrong... most often though the oddsmakers are pretty spot on.

Correction:

I happen to play league Champions and I take the + side for most of the teams. However I took Syracuse -14 against St. John's (both on league Champions and survivor) not because Syracuse is now ranked #1 but because at least I believe they are #1 and are playing host to a far inferior St. John's team.

To get to 4 game streak.  Almost went for Jackson State yesterday as it was a big public favorite but decided to take a break.  To bad, it would have hit.

Syracuse is up by 14 at half. If they outscore St. John's in the 2nd half I'm get to 3. If they lose the 2nd half I'll lose by streak once again. If they tie the 2nd half I'll get a Push. Let's go Orange(men)!!!!!!!!!!!! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

Dang, I got greedy and made a rushed pick and now I'm back at 0.  Worst of all, I originally wanted to go with Maryland +1, but then decided to go with New Mexico -16 over TCU.

I'm either taking Over 149 for Providence/Pittsburgh or Mississippi -12 over LSU. I know Providence games are high scoring but Pitt games are more defensive. LSU is horrible especially on the road where they are 0-10 and Mississippi beat them by 10 on the road and should by more in this game. this will be the more likely of my 2 choices.

ematchup, I'm sorry to hear that. This game can be very rough. I had a time last March I believe where I intended to take Uconn -7 over Purdue which they ended up winning by 12 but I came back and it said I took Pitt -6.5 over Xavier and they only won by 5. It broke up 2 game winning streaks on either side and I had never gotten past 3 and that streak would have been 5.

I've taken Miss -12 over LSU for a winning streak of 4. 8 of 10 of LSU's road losses have come by more than 12 points.

Miss is only up by 4 against LSU at the half because they are 2 of 9 at the free throw line. Please save my streak, I have'nt seen 4 since November 11 when Orlando snapped it by losing to Cleveland at home.

Thanks covers for not letting me pick Villanova -3, they lost and I would be back at 0.


Taking Brown (-4) over Columbia.  Seems like a solid pick, as Brown is the hotter team right now.  Their playing at home, and two of their players will be honored before the game as they are wrapping up their college careers.  The cards seem to be in place for a win and a cover of at least 2 baskets.

Portland -8 looks good to pick against San Diego for 5. They beat San Diego twice before by 9 and 14. The only scare is a 3rd time fear. I think I'll go for it.
