I'm not here to introduce a system or anything.. but spending a good amount of time in this section per day, I can't believe how many times I come across a thread that uses incorrect numbers when talking about chasing.
For instance, I just read a thread that was talking about a 3 game chase, etc... asking for money management advice.. but it mentioned that a "System loss" was worth -$700 dollars trying to win $100 for each win.
This couldn't be more wrong! It's a simple mistake, forgetting to add the juice into the equation! A lot of the time this is the difference between believing that a chase system is profitable, and why it really is not though.
To use this guy I have mentioned already as an example.. It's obvious that he believes a system loss is 7 units ($100 a unit) by losing 1 unit on the first loss, 2 units on the second loss, and then 4 units on the third loss.
Well first off, (and he even mentioned at -110 odds), betting 1 unit on the first game isn't going to produce a $100 return for a win. It will only produce a $91 profit for a win.
......
So if you are chasing to win 1 unit on for win here are the mathematically correct units that should be placed on each game of the chase system (@ -110 odds)
Game 1: 1.1 unit to win 1 units Game 2: 2.31 units to win 2.10 units Game 3: 4.851 units to win 4.41 units Game 4: 10.1871 units to win 9.261 units
(You shouldn't really be chasing more than 4 games anyways)
So if you have a
2 Game Chase a Loss = -3.41 units Win = 1 unit 3 Game Chase a Loss = -8.261 units Win = 1 unit 4 Game Chase a Loss = -18.4481 units Win = 1 unit
So really for this guy's 3 game chase system, a loss should equal $826.10 and a win would be a net profit of $100.00, not $700, as he suggests, because the vig isn't accounted for.
Also, I will see the chase where the bettor takes into account the juice in the first game by placing 1.1 units down trying to net a profit of 1 unit for any system win, and when he goes to move to the second bet, he tries to account for the juice again, by placing 2.2 units on the second chase.
This is also wrong. By placing 2.2 units on the second game @ -110 odds, you would be winning 2 units. After subtracting the 1.1 units lost in the first bet, your win on a second game becomes a net of only .9 units, instead of 1 unit as it would be on the first game.
If it then moved to a third game, you can be assured this guy is also going to chase with 4.4 units, when he should be betting 4.851 units to really net a profit of 1 unit. By betting 4.4 on the third game, your going to win 4 units with a win. Subtract the 1.1 from the first loss, 2.2 from the second loss, and your only netting .7 units with the win, not 1 unit.
Incorrectly placing unit amounts when chasing, usually screws up your net profit win like I just showed. It's not always consistent with winning 1 unit throughout the system if you don't bet the correct units. So you are inflating your winnings by winning a game later in the chase.
Guys remember this.. it might seem really stupid when reading this because your probably going "What's the difference anyways, it's only .1 of a unit, or another $100, or .5 of a unit." Well, if you don't understand the importance and magnitude of fractions, decimals, and the slightest incorrect math computations, I guarantee you are on your way to losing money, and probably are going to real fast.
I'm just trying to educate and help.

Somebody did their math homework in school......... And that's without the chases involving all that juicy juice Agree Freaky........... Chasers......... like myself for some systems too Budget your BR's for when a series loss happens Don't blame the thread originators when the poop hits the fan ................
