Hey B2W - so I put your system in excel to make it easier to see the plays. You can download it off of google docs:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B5dydT9Oe6JbRFAxbEN6RnBma2s
You can edit the cells highlighted in yellow - although the date cell's formula grabs today's date. It automatically pulls the RPI data and MLB schedule from the other tabs.
All you have to do is update the RPI data daily - I will add a macro once the RPI data updated with all the teams - so then all you have to do is run the macro.
The only thing that i'm missing is figuring out how to automate the other 3 rules below
1. If the lower RPI has been playing significantly better baseball over the last week or so, do not play the series.
2. Losing streaks. Big losing streaks by better RPI team, dont play series.
3. Teams going in obvious opposite directions in the W/L column, I will take the series even if off a Point or max 2 on the rpi.
Not sure how to determine "significantly better baseball", What is a "big losing streak", Teams going in opposite directs (i.e how many W/L)
Any advice on how to flag those?
I also plan on adding (automating) this O/U system that was posted by Gilmar406 - what do you think of that system? Do you think it's worth automating and tracking for a bit in another thread?

Just trying to make things easier and better for all of us. So if their are any other "proven" systems like yours that merit automating (maybe Cisco's) - I can defintely give it a shot. I was thinking of putting them all in one spreadsheet - with a summary tab - so you can see all the plays by system (yours, O/U by Gilmar, Ciscos, etc)
Just a thought - let me know what you think?

That's freakin AWESOME! As far as the 3 figures/filters, they don't come into play much. Like once last 2 years. Like when losers, BAL, went on a huge winning streak a couple years back. Obvious to spot.Don't worry about that.
If you can automatically add last 10 games (W/L) and current winning streaks, that would be great. I am NOT a great I.T. guy. How you are going to add the numbers auto RPI, IDK!! But, you know how. That would be great if you set this up. Gracious my friend

Ok - I can add add last 10 games (W/L) and current winning streaks.
So for last 10 I assume you would want something like 2-8, 5-5, or 6-4
And for current winning streak - I assume you want something like WON-4, LOST-7, etc
As far as how the RPI is "automatically" put in the "2012 Data" tab - it does not automatically do it. You can cut and paste it in daily - which would then update the "RPI System" tab with the latest RPI data, OR I am/will record a macro - to do it once there is enough RPI data on ESPN for all the teams. Then you will just have to click on the macros button under "view" in excel 2007 and run the macro. The macro will do the cut and pasting from the ESPN website automatically - I will put instructions on another tab so it's clear.
Any suggestions on what site has the last 10 games (W/L) and current winning streaks? ESPN?
Lastly, what do you think of the O/U system that was posted by Gilmar406? It's essentially:
1.Both pitchers need to have over 4.00 ERA for the SEASON
2.Both pitchers need to have a 8.00 ERA combined for the SEASON
3.Both pitchers need to have a 7.60 ERA combines for their CAREER
4.Both teams need to have WIN PCT .95 Or more COMBINED
5.Both teams need to have RA - avg 7 per game or more COMBINED (i.e RA / GP for both teams)
6.Both teams need to have RS - avg 8 per game Or more COMBINED (i.e RS / GP for both teams)
and if it meets the criteria - take the over.
Do you you think it's worth automating and tracking?

Thanks craig - will do. Just waiting for the RPI data on ESPN to have data for all teams - right now it has 2011 data. And you don't really need the macro to do it automatically - you can do it manually - just cut and paste the RPI data from ESPN into the 2012 data tab - but I will create a MACRO to make it easier - just press a button and it's done :)

Well I will need pitcher data for the O/U system - so I plan on wiriting a MACRO to get the data from ESPN
Take a look at this link for 2011 (2012 when it's updated)
https://espn.go.com/mlb/history/leaders/_/type/pitching/breakdown/season/year/2011
AND
this link for CAREER ERA
https://espn.go.com/mlb/history/leaders/_/type/pitching
Would it be helpful if you had this data from ESPN in a spreadsheet? To update it with new data - you just have to run the MACRO and it will get the data from ESPN again - so you could run it every day and the data is refreshed.
Or if their is another website that has better data - let me know and i'll take a look

Hey Guys
Added STRK and LAST10 to the spreadsheet. You will see added a "Standings" tab that holds standings data - the data is from ESPN. To update the "Standings" tab - just run the MACRO. You can see importing instructions on the yellow tab that tells you what to do step by step. As I stated earlier - the MACRO for the RPI data will be available once EPSN has the RPI data available.
But for now you can see the who's playing - what series game it is, and the STRK and LAST 10
Let me know if you have any issues.
and B2W - let me know what you think of the other system

[Quote:] DEGEN ABOUT GILMAR, i followed him a little last year and he seemed to do ok. Making a spreadsheet on that would/could give u a better analysis/trend feedback. I think thats awesome research btw.
Looks like there is some interest - I will put something together. At the very least having the pitcher data for career and season - may be helpful.
