You're not missing much. Cobblestone streets only fits one car. Chapala is nice but a one horse town. Can't park on weekends. Only one traffic signal. I prefer here in GDL. Costco-Sams-Applebys-Outback-IHop. You get the idea. I'm 45 min from Chapala/Ajijic if I want to visit. Last time was around 2 years ago.
But, If you're looking for peace and quiet. It's a wonderful place to live. Lots of Americans and Canadians live there and all the workers speak at least a little english. Average, very nice home around $200-$250k. Can't beat the weather. https://www.livinglakechapala.com/

I've been here for 17½ years. Came here when I was 53. Just turned 71.
I've met people that have lived in Cuernavaca and they liked it. PE I know nothing about. Add Manzanillo to your list. I like it there. A lot of gringos live there.
