Guys, I'm having a tough time setting this labby line thing up correctly. If I was using $10 per unit, how would you have it set up after last night's losses assuming -120 odds? Is this correct?
A) 5 - 5 - 5 - 5 - 12 - 12 B) 5 - 5 - 5 - 5 C) 5 - 5 - 5 - 5
And then, what would the wager amounts look like for the games tonight? Thanks for helping an amateur here!

Duh, I didn't even think of it like that. However, it depends on the person's closing line so I was trying to keep track myself too.
It is good to track your own bets if you're concerned about line movement, as your unit count will vary a bit from mine depending at the odds you get. However, if you're lazy like me and and just want to follow what I list, I seriously doubt your final count will vary by more than a unit from mine.
My general labby strategy is as
follows. I have a line for each tier of the chase.
A. .5 - .5 - .5 - .5
B. .5 - .5 - .5 - .5
C. .5 - .5 - .5 - .5
Say I start a chase on the
Penguins and they’re -200 favorites. For the A game of the chase, I’ll add the
first and last numbers of my A line (.5 + .5) and bet to win that amount (1 unit).
If the Penguins lose, I divide my
loss (2 units) by 2 and add that number to the last numbers on my A and B lines,
like this.
A. .5 - .5 - .5 – 1.5
B. .5 - .5 - .5 – 1.5
C. .5 - .5 - .5 - .5
My next A bet will to win 2
units, as will my next B bet.
This is my general strategy. But
like I said earlier, I try not bet more than five units on an individual game
(unless it overlaps with another play), so I call a lot of audibles with
respect to the amount I’m betting to win in order to meet this.
Take a look at ON3’s opening day
MLB system from this year and last year if you need some more clarification, my
strategy is very similar to his.

Thanks for the response. I think I'm following your labby line structure. Did it look something like this coming into tonight? A) 0.5 - 0.5 - 1.22 - 1.22 B) 0.5 - 0.5 - 1.22 - 1.22 C) 0.5 - 0.5 - 0.5 - 0.5
The only thing that confuses me is why three of the A bets were at 1.72 units and not just two. Unless you moved a B bet up?
Sorry for clogging the thread.

Yes, my lines looked like that. We had five games so I wanted to put all of the lost units into play, hence I moved a B up. Like I said, I call lots of audibles - it's not a scientific formula by any means.

before you shuffle your lines....... so what is the worst your lines looked like last season?
Beef stated earlier in the thread that he never bets more than 5 units on a play, this is the key factor here. No matter what a line could look like, the artistry involved with playing a system like this means it is impossible to say what anything will look like, also the fact that its sport and gambling and anything can happen.
I would suggest for a newbie to playing systems set aside 200 units for this system, this way your unit size will be small and risk minimal.
For this system my unit size is $10. This way its basically good fun, with lots of action, and playing carefully the risk of me losing the whole bankroll is very low - but it is still there!
This is betting on sport it should be fun, so lets keep it that way by keeping the units small. At the end of the season you should be able to cash out with a tidy little profit, but most importantly learn along the way.
Basically if you start with $50 or $100 units and your bankroll is $1000 you are going to have a bad time.

If any one wants more info on how I run my labby, I suggest checking out ON3's MLB System that I mentioned earlier. He shows his labby lines day-to-day - it's basically the same way I do mine .It's on another forum but you can find it easily with Google. Like River said though, Labby is so subjective that it's going to be impossible to explain what I'm doing every day. You can either run your own lines or just bet what I list.. I'd suggest the ladder.

I'll start listing the amount I'm betting so the unit count will be more transparent and you guys can know the lines I'm getting. I always make my bets right before I post. Your odds will probably differ. Some days you'll get better, some days you'll get worse. But in the end it should average out and our unit counts should be very similar. I would use closing lines, but that's a little more work than I'm willing to put in here. Sorry, ya'll.
Today
B LA +1.5 (3.70 to win 1.72) A Flyers fade (3.05 to win 1.97)
YTD Chase Record: 9-0
Unit Count: +7.32
A. 6-4 B. 3-0 C. 0-0
