There should be a rule saying you're not allowed to start a new 'journal' thread before your last one is complete (whether that means losing the starting role and or reaching the intended goals). I was going to bail on my old thread before kreature challenged me to stay the course and I'm glad he did because I ended up finishing that one. So many times I've wished I could bail on my newer 'Double your Bankroll' thread just so I could start fresh but I haven't and I won't because sometimes you just have to stick it out.

You are doing people a dis-service if you stop the thread because of 1 missed goal or falling below the initial amount of $1000.

  A few people (not many but a few) might have slowed their roll when the deficits were mounting and might have better profit.  Now they won't get your selections because proper money management wasn't being used FOR THE PROJECT. 

All that other crap you said with your overall bankroll and other people's bankroll shouldn't of even been mentioned.  That is where you went wrong.  Nobody needed to know anything about that, Thinker.  It was about THIS PROJECT.  It doesn't matter what everyone's bankroll was or yours.  Whether someone was playing with a roll of 100, they should of started with $2/game, or $1000 like you with $20/game, or 10,000 with 200/game

You were ready to stop the program early on and DJ got you to keep going, it got you to a +1200 profit.  Then, you received more positive critism trying to help out and you are/have neglected it.  Why not learn from other people the way those same people have learned from you by making underdog selections?  It isn't too late to listen and keep with the program WITH BETTER MONEY MANAGEMENT.  

 

Look, in the end, it is your program because your the one with the selections, but why not listen to folks trying to help you who in turn you have helped?  I am left scratching my head at the conclusion you leave that if the PROJECT FAILS, you will just start another one, and you will do it your way.  You sound like my team's former head coach, Brad Childress. 

Why not take some advice and make this program/money management system the best it can be?

I assume you mean in the grand scheme of things.. cuz I think this would be the first winning day is quite awhile.

Either way, it's always good to have a winning day. If things are going to turn around, it has to start somewhere!

Everyone gets hung up in the day-to-day grind of it all,because it really does weigh one's mind down.. but in reality, January 1st in a long ways away, seriously.. think about how many plays will be on the card between now and then.. One massive dry spell can be recovered with a 10 day hot streak.

Was only going to quote the top portion of this.. but after reading the entire thing again, it really all deserves to be posted again.. but the top portion is the most significant.

Been thinking it in my head for the past few days when reading this thread, and it really needs to be said..

Your October GOAL was met.. congrats.
Your November GOAL was met.. congrats.
Your December GOAL was met.. congrats.
Your January GOAL.. ????

Key word.. GOAL. You set your GOAL. Do I need to copy and paste the fucking definition of the word GOAL?!?! Because clearly you have forgotten this, sir.
You set a GOAL, with hopes of achieving it.. yet many times you will come up short. But you realize you've still made progress, just maybe not at the clip you hoped, for the time being..

If you fail to meet a goal, then you look ahead to the NEXT goal, which would be the total for February 1st. You may not make that goal either, but if you make progress in January, then you continue forward. You don't just quit cuz you missed ONE GOAL. Why on Earth would you lay out 36 different goals at the beginning of your project if you were going to turn tail at the first missed checkpoint.

And really that's all that needs to be said. You don't turn tail because you just missed one checkpoint. You've already accomplished that goal in numerous threads over the past 2 years.

Suck it up for once. Just do it!

kreature, it has nothing to do with sucking it up...

i am closing this thread now... for these reasons..

1. its no longer any fun... i am not paid one cent to do this daily, nor do i desire to be but shouldnt this be fun..

2. its no longer profitable... i was at $2297 on dec 2, since then ive lost over $1000 in this thread alone... and guess what, much more than that... the program needs work and i do not lose money.

3. im not going anywhere... ill continue to work on the Program quietly, using it as a tool...

contrary to what smdio says, ill continue to be a part of Covers, here in this section.. ive met many of you by email or PM and i want to continue on here...

 

here are the final numbers for the Project...

 

Beginning balance on sept 5 2010: $1000

Final balance on dec 16 2010: $1264

 

Computer Program Plays: 219-256 (+$264) (46% winners)

 

breakdown:

mlb: 75-75 (+$437)

nhl: 89-104 (-$110)

nba: 40-53 (+$51)

fb: 15-24 (-$114)

 

i believe those numbers to be accurate.. i dont think i ever once made a mistake in calculating the daily update figures..

it was a pretty good run for me, with a disaster of an ending...

i will run the Program for baseball 2011.....

but for now, i want to bring you the best of what i can do in this business...

i am putting the final touches on my business plan and will open a new thread soon... today..

 Maybe things changed since the season progressed and the better teams starting pulling ahead statistically in regards to win ratio's so an underdog emphasis might be profitable in the beginning of the season but change later after the teams gained more experience playing each other? Have you thought about just flipping the picks around and fading it at this point? Just my $0.02, thanks for your effort.

Congrats on making some money.  It seems as though you like to start a new thread and quit a thread and not follow things through.  That doesn't bode well for credibility here.  I'm sorry you didn't stick to your guns and see this through win or lose.  Remember the whole "GRIND" you spoke of.  People will definitely second guess tailing anything you provide as you show no loyalty in your OWN program.

Anyway, good luck in the future and may you continue to improve your plan...I know you're determined to succeed which is a positive!

Hey, Falcon.  I agree it is time to tinker with the system and find out if changes need to be made.   This losing streak has lasted far too long to just go merrily about as if nothing is wrong. It doesn't necessarily mean you are abandoning the whole project, just bringing the ship in for repairs and getting it ready for MLB.  To go on and on losing day after day is foolish.  Personally, I kept reducing my wagers on your picks from $45 to $35, then down to $20, then 2 days ago I stopped using the picks entirely. I understand people's frustrations with you stopping because when you first posted that you were going to go from $1000 to $100,000 in 36 months, a lot of people(including me) embraced it as a life-changing dream.  I mean, 100K ain't bad, and maybe after THAT goal was reached good ol' Thinker would come up with a way to turn 100K into 1Mil.  So, to dash people's hopes and dreams is very painful for some, I think. I, for one appreciate the work you've done and are still doing on your "10%" project, and I will be looking for a re-vamped and more solid system from you soon.

You are 37 games below .500 and profitting $264 dollars.  Why the hell is it a disasterous ending?  Why is it an ending at all?  You've met monthly goals as Kreatture explained.  If you would of decreased your wagers $5 every $200 or $250 lost like you increased them, you would be still months ahead of the game.  It was suggested but everything goes off def ears. 

Why on Earth should anyone even bother to look at your thread anymore?  You've made it very clear your not here to help anybody out and you will quit with 1 bad run or goal not achieved.  Why not just document your work in an excel spreadsheet or word document if your not here to listen to people or stick with a thread?  You say you have been in contact with people via email to, but I tried over a month ago and didn't get a reply back. I wish i new your exact criteria for this program as I have somewhat of an idea.  I would keep the thread going myself. 

 

Good luck to you on your newest thread,  maybe that one won't ever miss 1 goal and it can continue on.

I'm only disappointed because everyone here urged you to reduce wager amounts upon losses but you were having none of it so a potentially awesome system was ruined by poor money management. I understand, Thinker, that this was just a small chunk of your roll and it was all part of the 'project' but those two reasons alone don't give justice to you nose-diving your program. Your program hasn't done anything wrong; you have. You ignored your own preaching about goals, grinding it out, 1000 day journey, etc. and now everyone who has faith in your system is out in the cold. 

OBVIOUSLY you were going to miss goals along the way; anyone here who thinks you weren't is foolish. But as long as you stayed the course, I think you could have made it. The worst part is, you still haven't missed a goal yet here we are and it's over? 

It seems people have really gravitated towards your thread here because you gave them something consistent and a nice goal to dream about, so my next thread will be based on longterm investing; the only difference is I'm going to finish what I have started first, and then I will finish that one as well. 

You say you lost $1000 bucks in this thread? You also made $2300! Sure, giving most of it back isn't fun but losing often isn't and unfortunately, there's no way to avoid losing. All I can say is I hope this contributes to your better understanding of the 'grind'...

It's a shame to see this go. I think with better money management (sorry to beat a dead horse) you really had a winner here. Anything that takes you from $1000 to $2297 that quickly shouldn't just be abandoned.

Two bad weeks out of a 36 month program shouldn't bring it to an end.

Yes, people are responsible for their own money, but the author should be responsible for giving good advice, no?? The constant preaching of sound money management day after day is great - to contradict your own preaching is just plain, well, stupid!

It's $1000 side money to Thinker, no big deal.. I can guarantee there are numerous people who are playing their entire bankroll on this "program", yet Thinker doesn't want to take any responsibility for anyone else. Then, why sir, is he even posting here in the first place????

Oh I completely agree that if you were using a substantial part of your bankroll for this then the money management is horrendous.   Never lowering your wagers is not a good idea.  However he stated that it was a small portion of his bankroll, and he was going to wager it this way, and hit goals, and increase, and yadda yadda yadda.  Bang you got 100 grand. 
Is it his place to have to take responsibility for anyone?  He isn't forcing anyone to make plays?  I don't know. That is a separate debate.  I do know he stated what he was doing from the beginning so it shouldn't have surprised anyone.  Besides it was never not an option for people to lower their wagers if they felt the need. Just because he wasn't didn't mean anybody else couldn't. 
Anyway looks like he is done doing it now so we can all pick another thread to complain in.

He stated he had a 36 month plan as well, we see how far he got with that.  I don't care that he chose not to change his wager size that's totally Thinkers perrogative and he was clear on that, but he dropped the ball in other instances.

I agree with you that he doesn't have to take responsibility for anyone. 

The fact is since Sept. 5th he has had a profitting system of picking underdogs.  This, may I add, without adjusting money mangement for the better.  Now he is stopping the plays (which I don't think people can totally pick them).  I had a handle on some of his plays and I could guess several of them nightly, but others I could not. 

It is his perrogative to quit playing with his money on this program, but he's leaving behind a program that was winning and certain people have made as much money off it if not more than Thinker (many more probably didn't catch on right away and got had because of the bad streak). 

It is just ironic that some followers have ended up having more faith in this program (without knowing the program details) than the originator.  Now some people are left pissed off they can't beat the books anymore with this program.  Sure, there are still very good odds this program wouldn't make it, but with the success it has had for over 3 months (especially with better money management), it is way to premature to pull the plug on it. 

Abandon might be the word to decribe how this program went.  I mean why leaving people hanging like this?  If you don't care about having followers and guiding people to make money than why post on covers?  I document my plays or "have a journal" on my own with excel or MS Word.  Why not do that rather than this?  What real purpose is it to post on here? 

I will be watching Thinkers other work, but it sounds like more of the same.  It is inevitable bad streteches happen, but to be an INVESTOR you whether the storm and use sound logic during the process (whether your own or help from others).
