But I wouldn't buy a sony because you're merely paying for their brand rather than their performance..

My work laptop is a HP & it's a POS...................just got a Toshiba L655 ( $450 @ Staples of all places) & it's been good so far. Couldn't beat the price (with the options it has) anywhere.
I have a tech-savvy friend that swears by IBM/Lenova units......

can you wait another 4-6 months??? windows 8 should be very cool..if you cant and u must fuck with a shitty OS like windows7, get a lenovo or ASUS..just go to tom hardware and amazon wait around for a deal o the day type ad...pick up a decent laptop for for $400, something like 20-40% off MSRP

I got a nice ASUS laptop I haven't had one problem with it yet. I bought it from best buy for like 450 or something. I bought it around Christmas time, it does everything that I need.

Stiln, it's actually a different model. Here is the link for the Lenovo at best buy The specs are almost the same for both. but the Lenovo at best buy has better specs overall.

rockdog, Ok I see.. Your budget is 500, I did some research.. Although you're probably not using the laptop for any major web devolopment, or gaming, video producing, the laptop you linked was a very good deal. Infact I couldn't find too many other laptop less than 400 dollars but I found a few that were about the same specs:
2.0+ processing speed 500gbs 4 gbs of ram and a 15.6" screen
The rest of the specs seems irrelevant right? Like sound card, video card, battery life, type of ram etc?
