My Dell laptop has that infamous Dell's PBR 2 problem, I do not have the XP boot up cd rom, and my desktop has Vista, what can I do Lippsman or anyone else?

My Dell laptop has that infamous Dell's PBR 2 problem, I do not have the XP boot up cd rom, and my desktop has Vista, what can I do Lippsman or anyone else?
Thanks for the quick reply. The first 2 methods do not apply here since it's a laptop and I do not see any USB controller under "onboard devices".
I guess only the recovery procedure but I cannot get pass the PBR 2 ...done screen so I cannot use the system restore feature and I do not have any XP boot up CD. How do I create one of those boot up one anyway?

Laptops have USB's on them, you can use them as boot devices on most Dell laptops. Odd that you do not see one.
Sounds like you are going to have to take out the hard drive and put in an external case to hook it up to another computer so you can get your data off. After that I'm afraid a format is in your future.

Yeah, you are going to have to get your hands on an actual XP disk. You can try to do the repair tools, but most of the time you will just have to reformat
