Late night pc question........

I have this laptop. It's not my best, but for some reason (music) it's my favorite. 

I've been away from home for about 3 weeks, and my girlfriend seemed to feel the need to attempt to readjust settings and whatever else crazy psycho girls come up with as reasons for irrational behavior.

Nothing was remotely wrong with it when I left it with her. It's new, etc.

When I got it back and went back down to Cali, I've discovered that it won't load, nothing.

The Windows XP logo and stuff comes up, and it just goes and goes and goes..........like it's trying to get a grasp of something.

I can't get it into safe mode, and I certainly feel that if I could that I could fix it and bring my little baby lapper back.

Any suggestions?

A wish I could teleport a beer through the computer for anyone that has any helpful ideas.

do you have recovery CD?

If it is new, have you called helpline?

So you cant even get to start screen, to try system restore?

Thanks for responding.

It will get to that screen that offers (looks like DOS) and says that I can choose to start normally, or safe mode, or to the last known configuration that worked properly.

None of those worked as in getting it to load up.

I just now turned it on, and before anything happened, I hit F-10 until the Set up utility came up. Thought that I was making a little progress there, until I got nervous about losing everything in my computer.

Any ideas?

I just got it to run a diagnostic in that utility setup screen.

84 minutes it says.



Crap....test status #1-  07 fail

That's usually a hard drive error.

if you can get it onto safe screen, it may take a while to load....

IF THIS HAPPENS, PICK A RESTORE POINT SOMETIME LAST MONTH

Lipps or Mets, any idea how I can get it into safe mode?

When I select it, it just doesn't seem to want to load up.

You are obviously online now

google these questions and read results

I think f8 gets you into safe mode, but, it might not.

I think if yoiu hit "escape' (esc)  it gets you to a screen where you can start in safe mode



The only reason I know any of this is I have been having major laptop problems, am using my office computer now

Yeah Mets, I'm on my Mac at home.

I think I mentioned that I left it with my GF for a month, and she was probably in my settings after having difficulties with her router. The silly girl doesn't get that I had it set up fine, so don't monkey around with crap like that. Oh well........

I'll try the F8. F10 put it in utility. Frustrating. I'm still confident I can get it straight.
