I was thinking about getting one. I see that you can get one for $299 and for $399 with 20gb hardrive. I probably know the answer to this, but if I just wanna play games and save, for example, a season of Madden, I would be fine with the $299 one correct? I figure the one with the 20gb is just so you can dl music and crap to it, right?

You will need to buy a memory unit ($39.99) to save anything, and you won't be able to play XBOX 1 games on the 360 unless you have a hard drive.
Here are the contents of the $299 system:
* Contains: - Microsoft XBOX 360 console - wired controller - standard AV cable - XBOX Live Silver Service - White faceplate
$399 system:
* Contains: - Microsoft XBOX 360 console - 20 GB Hard drive - wireless controller - HD AV cable - ethernet network cable - wired XBOX Live headset - white faceplate - XBOX Live Silver service
So you get a wireless controller, headset for online games, hard drive, component cables for HD gaming, and ethernet cord for online connection for an extra $60 (you will need to spend $40 on a mem card if you buy the other one). Well worth it if you have an HDTV or TV with component connections, or you are going to be playing online (you will need a headset). The wireless controller is also alot nicer than the wired one.

nba 2k7 is awesome, but I like NCAA hoops 2k7 even more, but that may be just from liking college more than pro's.... Live is absolute garbage man, not even worth the $ to rent it. Both NHL 07 and NHL 2K7 are good games, you should rent them both and see which one you like more, I'm not a hockey fan though
