Norton subscription will soon expire, is there a need to resubscribe ?

I have Norton/Symantec anti virus and firewall protection etc and the subscription is due for renewal at the end of the month.

Question; if I don't renew, does this leave my computer open to attack or should it be ok since I have all the anti virus software already in it. Will I get way with not getting the updates ?

Are there any other free alternatives ?

You will still be protected.  But any virus/spyware that comes out after you subscription ends will be a threat to you.

There are a number of free ones.

AVG has a good one.

norton sucks (most cause it uses to much cpu resource)...your better off just using a freeware anti-virus...AVG''s is pretty good..so is Microsoft security essentials (it has a VERY high batting avg at finding viruses)

uninstall it.

install AVG or MSE

MacAfee on my new laptop just expired as well so went ahead with your pick and downloaded the AVG.

I have AVG and MSE on my laptop, MSE found something that AVG didn't.

Avg blocks absolutely everything. I just deleted the pile of shit..

No virus protection for now and the computer has never moved faster.
