I KNOW I AM OFF OF TOPIC, BUT NEED SOME ADVICE,
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO BUYING A NEW LCD OR PLASMA, WONDERING WHICH ONE YOU GUYS THOUGHT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA.

LCD lasts longer and doesnt run the risk of "freezing"...If you play video games its LCD hands down because of the burn in possibility on plasma screens...I&#x27;ve owned both and much prefer LCD

I just read a report and it basicly said to buy the one you can afford.  I am looking at some 42 inch in the $1300 range, I think they will come down to below $1000 in January.  Looking at Samsung, Sony, Sharp.  Others are good but I know these are good.  Plasma have a better view from the side, LCD looks better if your room is brighter.  Look up Kim Komando.c, she has the report I just read.

lcd... if ur goin big DLP&#x27;s are alot cheaper and man.. theyre fuckin just as sick.  I&#x27;ve got a DLP in the living room - its awesome.  I&#x27;ve got a LCD in the bedroom... personally I&#x27;d rather watch the tv in the living room.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;maaayyybee its bec the DLP is 50"... and the LCD is 27"... but still..&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;DLP my man

Call them up if you want to talk with one of their reps. I have a plasma and love it but I am not a gamer so I wouldn&#x27;t know how to answer that type of question etc. &#xD;&#xA;You can also compare prices and maybe get a better deal. I&#x27;ve bought from this site numerous times and have never had an issue and recommend it.

&#xD;&#xA;Come on, I have a Pioneer 1st generation plasma made 1999 that&#x27;s still running. I would say LCD.. I just bought a 37 inch LG LCD the other day for my bedroom... And if you game and watch alot of sports make sure you get a good contrast ratio... Like 6000:1 or better.. and even alot of tvs for gaming and sports have 120 mhz which is good stuff

lcd tvs get so hot , i have a 40 sony 1080 in my room and the temp in the room goes up huge when its on and its brand new.

i have a sony lcos tv,  very thin (for a projection tv),  very lightweight.  i don&#x27;t have 175 degrees of viewing, but it works well in my space.  thus, very few luminance issues.  and zero problems with live pictures in a video format, unlike an lcd screen.  one thing that i would do regardless of what you buy, demand that the sales guy run an analog signal thru the set and watch it in 4x3 mode, most screens look pretty similar with hd, but there can be a difference when looking at an analog signal.  this is not much of an issue with espn or the networks, who do the conversion for you, but can be an issue for fsn channels or other regional sports networks, or i guess, non-sports channels that don&#x27;t broadcast in hd. i forgot about those.

just saw the other thread on sony tv&#x27;s&#xD;&#xA;not sure of my sony fits within the categories mentioned by lippsman,  mine is not the standard rear projection, it&#x27;s a liquid crystal rear projection.

46&#x27; sony lcd bravia 1080.  In bedroom&#xD;&#xA;42&#x27; samsong Plasma.. 1080&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Picture quality on the Sony is better, has less glair, and weights 1/2 the weight.

Sony Bravia 1080. LCD&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Originally wanted to purchase a plasma....but through my research i found the lcd to be a bit more durable.  ie. kids/dogs.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;&amp; the wall opposite of the TV is completely made of windows.  From what i understand plasma&#x27;s tend to glare much more that lcd.

Personally, I prefer DLP or plasma.  IMO, Samsung is as good as it gets.  I also really like LG
