Yeah, you're more than fine in that dept. As T100 said, do a speedcheck on your connection.
Dump DSL and get a cable modem, you won't be sorry. Also, go ahead and bump up your ram. Put at least another 512 MB in there.

The box on the side of the house is a demarc point............if the problem was a wire going into your house then that's your issue, unless you bought the maintenance package from the phone co., in which case the replacement of the wire is covered.
Bottom line: You could've isolated this issue long ago. Remote testing can't always reveal an issue on the customer prem wire. Then again, they could've rolled a tech to perform the same test long ago............did they? & leave a door tag saying everything was good outside?
