No Poll needed here guys. There is only one player to consider betting on this match. Pedro is the more accomplished clay court player. He is also in the fantastic form of his career making the finals in Santiago, and winning the Giron challenger with relative ease over other solid clay court players. The last time Martinez played Estoril he won his opening round match 6-3, 6-0 vs Bublik, and then took Norrie three sets losing 7-5 in the 3rd set of the next round. Martinez is a young player entering his prime now, and I think he has made improvements since that time.
Cook this on high heat!

Martinez only made the "semi-finals" in Santiago but lost to champion Sebastian Baez.. Argentine is a proud player on clay, and is a completely different stylistic matchup as to what he'll face in Estoril. Martinez should be the more solid player from the back line certainly. I also should say that he did not show up in the match vs Baez. I don't understand the exact reason, but it was just not a good day of tennis, and can't have those vs a dynamic player like Baez.

Apparently was raining in Estoril today. So we'll have a bit of a wait for this match. There may be some that are not familiar with the city of Estoril. It is a beautiful city on the southern coastline of Portugal about 30 minutes drive west of Lisbon. Perfectly fine place to watch a tennis match, and do some gambling!

Only thing to consider:odds are not in his favour even h2h is 1-0 for Pedro. Altmaier is a clay court specialist- I believe the over makes more sense here. ATP TOURNAMENT at the beginning of the clay season

Good review mate!

It's true that Altmaier is a clay court specialist, and I did overlook that in my analysis.. the h2h for me is not a huge factor at all. Altmaier has played two clay court matches this year and lost both of them.
The bigger factor is that Altmaier is won that match in Kitzbuhel which is at elevation along with some of his other big clay court wins in Madrid, and Hamburg I thought was played indoors and also faster surface.
I have always considered Estoril to play at medium speed. This is a big difference than playing at elevation because Altmaier probably would have a sizable serving advantage in that matchup. But, the match could be closer than I anticipate. The final factor that I believe favors Martinez is that he has played many more matches on clay this year than Altmaier, and is undoubtedly in fine form. I cannot say exactly where Daniel's fitness is right now, but I am not concerned with Martinez's fitness level or his ball striking timing on the clay(imo).

Also for the people who mentioned the over bet in this match.. I have some feeling that this will be a bloodbath, and Martinez will absolutely destroy him from the baseline. There is also a chance for a war and long match, but in my opinion the total is too risky.. Having said that. I am not a total bettor, and steer away from those.

It is a good insight actually & good info for taking into consideration! besides as you mentioned: the elevation, humidity , in tennis , more in clay, affect quite a lot the matchup. Nevertheless, normally I tend to see how players adapt to the first round of the tournament which are the most difficult for the players. See how Martínez reacts after a high performance in Girona.
