Halep is 2-0 on clay vs SS, and has won 4 straight against her (all since 2014, which was the year Halep stepped up her game).
Halep lost the '15 & '17 FO finals to players who consistently hit the ball hard, which isn't SS's game (although she can hit a hard fh, that's something she finds the right time & place to do: she doesn't always hit it hard as of a right).
SS has had an easy run-in to this final. Keys beat herself with an ungodly amount of UE, Kontaveit & Kasatkina offered no resistance at all (imo in both cases it was a situation of each of them coming off a peak performance - wins over Kvitova and Wozniacki, two of the hottest players on tour - and often players off a peak performance are flat in their next match, and I also think both found the stage they were on simply too big for themselves: Kontaveit had previously gone 0-3 in 4R Slam matches; Kasatkina was in her first ever QF Slam match). SS struggled with Giorgi (who served for the match in the 3rd set), who had previously nevr won a 2R match at the FO so SS had no excuse to struggle against her on clay if she really was/is in supposedly such good form as to destroy her last 3 opponents in the comprehensive manner she has. From where I'm sitting, her winning scorelines flatter to deceive. Halep on the other hand beat a woman who at least to my eyes played some of the most impressive tennis I have watched at this FO (Kerber: she destroyed Garcia, that was a brutal take down after which the frenchwoman probably had nightmares from for days afterwards; and she beat Bertens who would've been many people's pre-tournie pick to make this final), and she pretty much destroyed a woman(Muguruza) who before their match had the best record(24-4) at RO since 2014. Halep's worst effort came in the 1R when she was very slow to get going.
In short, to me Halep is battle-tested/match-hardened, while Sloane has met a parade of stiffs who (for whatever reasons) simply laid down like be*tches and offered sweet-FA resistance.(and funnily enough, if you look at Muguruza's run of efforts before facing Halep, that was exactly her preparation as well: a run of all-but walkovers where her opponents offered her little to no resistance. We saw how that build-up served her for her SF).
Also keep in mind that while Halep has this choker tag, she's not failed to win a set in any of her 3 Slam final losses. I'll be on Halep in some shape or form pre-match, but as usual be targeting significant stuff live.

if halep shows up, she wins. stephens wont go down without a fight so if halep get tight, it might slip away. i think best bet is 3 sets or over. just dont think either will run away with it

I'm just baffled by Sloane's accuracy she rarely makes mistakes, hits the ball clean and hard... Simona isn't playing her best, she should move here more, hit a little bit deeper, i don't thinks she can turn this around, unless Sloane helps her..

...in other words, Stephens is winning this match off her own racket, Halep isn't choking it away off her racket. To choke is to lose off your own efforts, if it doesn't mean that then every player and team to ever lose all choked, which is a ridiculous take on reality.

Just because a player hits the ball into the net means nothing: the previous shot by the opponent which was then hit into the net is the deciding factor. What was the quality of that prior shot? That decides whether an error was forced or unforced. Forced errors are as good as winners.
