Pablo just got his 2nd win of the season today! His been out for 8th month due to an elbow injury but looks like his back now.
His aim was to be back for Australia Open 2024, but his recovery has been quicker than expected.
He did play a match against Martinez last week and lost (Martinez saved 13/13 BB). He was a bit slow today as well and lost the first set, but after that he didn't lose any more service game and broke Cazaux 3 times.
Last year Pablo was ranked 19 in the world and took his biggest tournament win of his career at 32 when he won Montreal on hard. So his injure really came at a bad time for him.
Now he plays 125 event back home in Malaga, Spain and even if he can reach 60-70% of his level he will win this.
I haven't seen any future odds out today, so will proboly just back him every game, the odds should be around 5-8.

As you say , he is just getting rythm for next season. I watched a bit the other day and is quite far for his level. He should get through in the tournament only one who can win him before the final round is Galán. Many top 100 players in this tournament and many out already.
Good to see you back

Same with 33 years old Nishikori who came back this year after haven't played in over 2 years, just to get some rhythm. He ended up 10-3 and played closed with #9 Fritz.
Wozniacki came back after 3 year and 2 (!!) babies and beat Kvitova and played a close match with US open winner Coco... so I guess you don't drop to much level in Tennis compared to other sports. Just need to keep your fitness and level high, and if he feel any pain in his elbow he would withdraw.
I think if he just beat Bellucci in the next round, he will beat Martiniz and will have Galan in the semi. Galan is 3-10 on hard so think he will take him as well. Not sure how committed Bautista-Agut will be at this event, but it could be a great final between the two Spaniards.
