Watching him move on the court last night reminded me, once again, that big guys in Tennis rarely win slams!! Two tallest guys were Delpotro and Cilic, both 6’6 and both one slam wonders. I think it’s too difficult for these big guys to move/run around for two weeks in 5 set matches and then beat a world class player who can move better than they can. Unless their service game is lights out, they don’t stand much of a chance. As good as Medvedev is, he hardly looked like a professional tennis player last night trying to keep up with Djoker. It almost looked as if he was in the wrong sport. I love the kid, but he just does not have the body type to hang with a faster, quicker player (who is as skilled as he is) with a lower center of gravity.

trash analysis as med doesn’t move like a big guy. He just didn’t bring it last night he’s played djokovic better in the past.
We will see when injuries start to hit that tall, lanky body of his. At 6’6 he will pay a price for all that running around. Every sport has its optimal height/size. There is a reason you don’t see 7 foot soccer players. Wake the hell up and study the history of the sport.

Dude he’s 25 he hasn’t even entered his prime, it’s just not his time yet
He's no different to Cilic, Raonic and all the other hyped up tall players.
At the end of the day, they are all mental midgets. The only players who can win titles in the coming years are Thiem and Zverev. Tsitsipas is close but needs to strengthen up more in order to beat Joker in 5 sets.

6’6 seems to be the limit of winning a grand slam. I don’t think Med is a mental midget, I just don’t think at his height he can play that style of tennis and win consistently without his body breaking down.

Zverev? Cmon he’s the biggest mental midget of them all. No excuse for med not taking a set but I think people are upset for betting him and overreacting. I see him and I agree on Theim having the most upside once the big 3 are out of the picture

interesting thread...the tall/free serve points/good vollyer vs the modern euro-baseliner with a more balanced skill set. Clearly a Stan Smith, Phill Dent, as history and equipment evolutions has shown does not stand up to the movers/passing shots/balanced game of today. Just watch Isner get into a rally. If the returner gets the ball in play, its painfull to watch.
So the tall guys....Anderson, Raonic, Isner, Karlovic. Does Zverev and Med fit in that group? Besides Zverev's mental issues, I think both Med and Zver have a better grasp on moving and baseline skills; and a larger skill set than the typical tall guy syndrome. Plus, they seem to understand the big picture and are willing to seek balance as opposed to relying on the one-skill-hope-I- get- my-first-server-in-or-I'm-screwed mind set.
And Americans who grow up on hard courts.....they have zero chance in this new world.

History is against everyone in mens tennis over the past 20 years, due to three goats playing at the same time.
God bless Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Del Potro (and ever Cilic although i will always consider his USO a total fluke run to the title as the draw opened up miraculously for him that year) for cracking thru the brick wall when they had their chances.
Once Djoker fades when his career comes to an end, Roger and Rafa will be long gone, and a guy like Daniil will be poised to be #1 or #2 for a very long time if he surrounds himself with very credible and trustworthy coaches and a team in general. The guy is a stud and has everything you would want to be a champ in todays modern tennis game.
He will dominate all the overhyped next gen players like Thiem (except on clay), Zverev, Tsitsipas, Shapovalov, Alliasime.
The real question is how many slams will Medvedev win in his career, not will he.
Just how many Wimbledons will this guy win? Should be several with his serve and forehand if he stays healthy.
Class dismissed.
Victory Belongs to the Most Tenacious

I agree Pack....but back to height. Med and Zver will win slams AND they are tall.....because they have all the skills. Theim, Shapo, Sissypants.....they are in the mix. If Zverev can hire a good psychiatrist he will bag a few. Like you say Packer...."how many slams will Medvedev win in his career". I have him near the top of the list. And Theim, because he is very good and an Austrian, aslo near the top.

He won’t win more than 2. History of the sport says he won’t. If the over under was 2.5 I’d bet under. No 6’6 guy has ever dominated the sport. Not even for one year.

First of all Beginner Boy, your point to argue about Medvedev being “tall” and at “6’6”” to justify why he won’t win titles is outrageous. If you analyzed his game AT ALL, it’d be easier to have a debate.
Please don’t take for granted that we have the 3 Greatest Tennis Players of ALL TIME who are also born in the 1980s. Besides the elite skill, they did NOT grow up with an IPhone in their hands. This goes to my point that their mental game is ions better than “The Next Gen”.
Lastly, Medvedev has made 2 hard court finals within the last 6 Majors and lost to Nadal and Djokovic. Medvedev is highly regarded as a hard court specialist. Until one of these Gen Z Clowns takes a Major from The Big 3, we just have to wait until their time is inevitably going to come.
Medvedev lost because he mentally shut down, he tried to end points early against the greatest defender ever. He battled back from 3-0, and forced a 5-5 first set tie. After losing it 7-5, the wheels fell off. How can you compare The Well Hung Russian to Zverev (mental midget), Raonic and Isner (can’t move if serve is returned), and Cilic (the guy is done)?
Beginner Boy, please keep your name. As that is what you are. Medvedev is going to win multiple titles and will be the favorite at Wimbledon, AO, and US Open for years. He will be the favorite like Djokovic in that regard when Joker retires.
The biggest difference between the Next Gen and The Current Big 3 is the mental aspect. They haven’t won majors yet (except Thiem). They need to be able to defeat these guys in a Final with a best of 5. Thiem was closest. Beginner Boy, I look forward to your response. If Medvedev was 6’5”, would you even be having this discussion?
