Besides the US Open a few years back, (excluding the Aussie open where Rafa was clearly injured) Rafa has owned Murray in their big Grand Slam matches. Winning 3-0 in the last two Wimbledon semi finals and 3-0 in the French.
We haven't had the classic men's Wimbledon match yet, I think we are about to have one Friday. Yes Fed/Tsonga was very good as was Nadal/Del Potro but memorable classics they were not.
Quite simply I believe it's now or never for Murray to win Wimbledon ( I think he will win a GS, just not Wimbledon). He has used up very little emotional/physical/mental energy to this point. In previous Wimbledon's this was not the case. Rafa is not dominant at the moment. The wear and tear is evident but it's still hard to pick Murray over Nadal considering how much mentally stronger Nadal is.
The French semi was closer then it looked. Murray pushed Rafa hard in all 3 sets. Considering everything, I expect him to really push Rafa in this match and whatever the over is, I will be playing it...
I will also play Rafa to win 3-2 @ +500...

When Rafa wins this, the best player in history debate should be over. If I can get evens on Nadal to win Wimbledon, I have to take it.
now you're saying this...

I still believe strongly Rafa wins but he is not as dominant as this time last year and I expect him to win a hard fought classic. I think Murray represents the harder challenge then Djoker or Tsonga. I believe if injury doesnt slow him down that Rafa will prove himself the greatest player in history.
Remember Rafa has 8 more grand slams then djoker and Murray combined. he is going to be ridicously hard to beat. I just think Murray will push him hard here. But when the crunch time comes Murray still doesn't have the mental toughness to win 3 sets against Rafa IMO

Both. Rafa can't be stopped (providing injury doesn't get in the way which I mentioned in that thread) but won't have it his own way. Thought that was obvious.
Dude this is childish. Let's have a truce..

I think this will be a tougher match then if he reachs the final and plays the winner of Joker/Jo Willy. Nadal is the best big match player the sport has ever seen. I dont think either Joker or Tsonga can beat him on the grandest stage at Wimbledon in a best 3 out of 5. I do think however Murray can win this match. Im going to be playing Murray at that price. If Rafa wins, he will win the title and start having people calling him the GOAT.
Agreed Panda..This is Rafa's toughest remaining match..Djoker just doesn't perform at his best on grass and Tsonga can't win this. Murray is dangerous. I just don't believe he can beat Rafa in the huge matches right now...If this is 2-2 no matter who has the momentum Murray will not win a last set against the greatest big match player the game has ever seen...

Money who is better? Sampras/Federer/Laver/Borg. I don't believe he is the most talented player ever. He is not, but the guy IMO is the toughest mentally in all sports...
IF, thats a HUGE IF he can stay injury free he might win 20 slams...I know that sounds crazy but nothing would surprise me with Rafa

Defending champion Nadal will play Murray, who hopes to give Britain its first men’s title at the All England Club in 75 years.
Although Fish thought Nadal moved well against him and showed no sign of injury, the 10-time major champion said: “My foot is not fine. But we are in quarterfinals of Wimbledon. Is an emergency, so I had to play.”

"Quite simply I believe it's now or never for Murray to win" Wimbledon"
why the heck would it be now or never? the dude just turned 24. he'll have at least 3 more chances to win Wimbledon. the #1 seed Rafa is the best player in the game, the #2 seed Djoko is playing great tennis this yr,
Murray will have chances in the near future where he probably won't have to face 2 streaking players
relax dude. relax.

I love Rafa, im a huge fan but he is not the greatest of all time even if he wins this and that shouldnt be debated.. YET!!!
that's exactly what i said in another thread. i love rafa too, but he still has to do more on hardcourts (only 1 aussie win and only 1 us open win) before i anoint him the best ever.

Girdiron guy Murray's best surface is NOT grass. Every year he always makes a meal of getting to the semi's except this year..Del Potro, Berydch, Tsonga, Fish and now Tomic. There are too many players out there now that would give Murray problems on grass. Added to the fact the guy does not like the Wimbledon nonsense he has to put up with every year. There were 10 questions the other day about his bow to Prince William. I would bet any money with you that Murray never wins Wimbledon.
This is his best chance though. Rafa needs pain killers to play on his foot so he is not 100%...Murray has not extended himself so far. I just don't believe he has the minerals to do it..
