Agreed - really like Ostapenko in this match. She plays very aggressive, and over the past few years the players who have beaten Timea have all been the heavy hitters like Ostapenko. She will have a lot of problems with the youngster....

yep all the pressure is on bacinsky - Im loving the osta bet here.. going to have a red hot crack at it..
Its really going to be Osta vs Osta in this game and after seeing her last game against a super defensive wozniaki i think osta bullies bacinsky off the court today.. her serve is not half bad either, even on 2nd serve - Should be a fun game and im thinking shes really a 80% chance of winning - Key is more winners then unforced errors and she wins hands down.. 19 and playing with house money - Lets get this !!!!

All the pressure is actually on Ostapenko. Bacsinsky has been to a French Open semi before and the quarters three years running now. Ostapenko has never been here. You may be surprised at how competitive this match is...

Not sure how the "pressure" would be on a 20 year old who will have lots more cracks at this. If Basckinsky can't win today, her window gets much smaller.

Do you really think she's thinking, oh, well, if I lose this, there's always next year? Hell no. She wants this now and she's never played at this stage in any tournament. This is the single biggest match of her career. Whatever you want to call it, that's pressure.

Timea for the win. Ostapenko does not have the experience. Timea is so focused and she will not play near as passive like Caroline did. I think the Latvian got most of the hits she managed to place on the line served on a silver plate by Wozniacki.
This is a semis and Ostapenko did superb so far, but Timea is prepared and will make it to the final against Halep.
This might go to 3 sets, but Timea will win this one!! in my opinion - Timea ML is a banker!
Good luck

History lesson: since the French Open has involved a minimum of 128 players for the 1st Round, there have been 34 finals played: only one of those finals has involved an unseeded player (the very first, in 1983).
What was so special about that unseeded woman that she remains the sole exception to the rule over the last 34 years? She had previously won (in 1977) & lost (in 1978) the FO before she made that 1983 final. In other words, she had a massive amount of experience to defy her 'unseededness' in 1983. So, no unseeded player who has not previously played in a FO semi-final before has ever advanced from the initial group of 128 players to take a place in the final.

few stats here. Timea before reaching Semi at French in 2015 and QF at wimbledon 2015 she had been bounced in 2nd round of every major since 2007. this is her 2nd QF in major. Not that much more experienced than ostapanko
Ostapanko is 14 and 5 career in quarter final matches. 4 and 1 since beginning of this year. this is Timea's first QF of any kind in a calender year. she is in her prime but wandering what Form she is in.

You must only know Timea's surface stats from Slams, and not the deeper story behind her tennis life. When you know the latter, then you'll know why it's best to simply ignore her Slam stats from before 2015 since, as of now, they're no longer relevant to her situation/the person she is/has become. She's what one would call a late bloomer.
As for 2017, she's keep her schedule very light before the clay court swing, which to me - since it's her best surface - is a wise move. It's certainly currently paid off at this FO: she's fresh where others were not, so she's benefited where others have paid the price. Contrast her 19 matches played to this point of the year with Svitolina's 37 before facing Halep: is it any wonder the Ukrainian ran out of gas in that 3rd set? Ostapenko's played 33 matches, closing in on almost twice as many as the Swiss. Just another factor in the corner of the more experienced player advancing here.

No one is giving her a chance, but the early money seems to be on her as the odds are dropping." Ahhh which way to he go George which way did he go.
Who has posted the opinion that it's literally impossible for Ostapenko to win. The odds for starters certainly don't say she's "no chance". If She hits like she can and avoids a large UE count and the wind stays away, Bacsinszky is in for a long day at the offfice.

Trainer looking at Bacs knee - lot of bets in the air at the moment. Otherwise it's been a good quality match. Lotsapenis hitting almost twice as many winners as UE (11-6) underlines why she's 4-3 up & serving.
