Lost a lot of respect for her trying to play the "sex card" to rationalize her calling the chair ump a "thief" You were clearly getting coaching and got caught, you got your warning. Knowing you already burned thru your warning you then smash your racket and get your 1st violation. Then you think you can sit in the change over and berate the chair ump. While it's true, the men do say similar things to the chair ump...it's rarely on the 3RD VIOLATION.

Could be the fact that the coach admitted he was coaching? So I guess....I got the facts? Try again...

Is both an acceptable answer? He could have said to her "Keep talking to me like that and I will give you a game point violation" and go from there. But at the same time, she had 2 violations prior. Entitled to think she wouldn't get a 3rd violation for continuing on...perhaps. She's sitting in the post game interview still trying to play the sexist card.

There's a certain civility to every game, in regard to decorum towards umps/refs. And there's a penalty for every sport. Every player knows that penalty. She knew she was potentially on her way to a 3rd violation, it's bad enough demanding an apology over and over...but you then call him a thief. In terms of interaction towards the ump, she deserved the penalty at that point. Claiming the men do it and playing the sexist card is pretty shitty on her part. Yes, the men swear and curse and yell at an ump. They get get their warning, or violation and move on. They don't do it when they are on their 3rd violation. If she can't wrap her head around that....then she doesn't deserve to speak on it. Sorry, but if I'm a fan there in the stadium...I didn't pay to watch Serena break the rules...then whine and cry about it. I would have paid to watch good tennis...and saw that up until 6-2 4-3. She lost her cool after that...and it cost her.

I think it was a combo of her being down a set, Osaka outplaying her...and a dash of entitlement. But yes, she knew a potential 3rd violation would have happened and still rolled the dice.

Bottom line, my job consists of being around alot of these athletes/celebs & BASED ON MY ONTERACTION WITH THEM, 95% OF THEM ARE SCUMBAGS THAT THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE & ENTITLED TO EVERYTHING.... A few of them have my respect like Charles Barkley, but the majority of them(especially the upcoming younger generation) are nothing but scums...
And I'm not saying this lightly, this is strictly based on my observation/interaction with them....

1) Yes, coaching happens all the time. It also gets warned quite often despite what some may think. I will agree that they should just allow it to take place. It's quite ineffective to punish it randomly. And only made worse when it happens on this stage in a final.
2) As had been stated. Yes, they swear...curse etc... It's often met with the warning, and a point violation. Most men say their peace and move on. Stating it happens without consequence just isn't true. They are just smart enough to not get the 3rd offense.
3) The umpire envoked the "abusive language" for his reasoning. Her demanding an apology was the start of it, but calling him a "thief" was a verbal jab and she frankly didn't need to go down that rabbit hole. He had every right to give her a violation. As far as him needing to notify of her if he was "considering taking a point away" He did...with the first 2 violations.
4) The ceremony was not the time or place to explain it to the fans. They were already booing things in general, and frankly likely ruined the biggest moment of Osaka's career.
