Only fly in the ointment is Schiavone will have nothing to lose, and can Stosur handle the pressure of a first time in a slam final with the whole world expecting her to administer another beatdown?

Also, going to need hot and dry weather on Saturday for that kick serve to be un-returnable for little Schiavone.

Its called pressure my friend....Sam has gone from cinderella to godzilla....now she is suppose to win. And will be feeling the media pressure the next 1.5 days. Frannie isn't suppose to win....so she should have a better chance of being loose on saturday.

Sam plays a risky style of game...when its on song she can and will blow away most players....but when she is off...she can make errors by the truck loads.

I have been on the Stosur express for weeks now...she was my darkhorse choice to win this title...but this isn't a good spot for her. If I can get +5.5 I will take it.

Torn on this one. idk about Schiavone being half the player JJ is this tournament, I actually thought Jankovic played like shit for a lot of it and just kept running into chokers like Bondarenko and Shvedova.I also think of her as the type to quit on a match, not so with Fran.

Got to look up their h2h and think on this one. I feel like after today the only real opportunities are on the men's side. I am guessing the three remaining men's matches all go over.

Personally I do like Stosur but am tempted to take Schiavone.

Well, if Stosur can handle the pressure and the weather is dry, Schiavone will have a tough time getting inside the gameline.

She is short with a one handed backhand and is right handed.  Stosur could annihilate her with that vicious kick serve.

Lets face it guys...its all about the pressure....this isn't any normal match...this is for a major title...and this is the #1 goal of any professional tennis player.

If Sam keeps her nerve she wins in a walk...but if she gets behind she could be in for a fight. Because when your suppose to win and you feel its beginning to slip away its easy to get overwhelmed emotionally...especially for women.

Frannie I think would benefit from faster conditions if her strategy matches... I think she needs to be super aggressive and take the ball early and try to rush Stosur early. If Sam starts making errors she can get a little more passive and let Stosur hit errors. But as a rule the best way to beat a bully is to bully them.

Of course thats easier said than done... but I think the 1st 4 games will be huge in deciding the match...if Sam gets ahead 3-1 or 4-0 she rolls...but if Frannie can hang around I think her game is better suited to handle late set and match pressure.

I called Stosur a choker as much as anyone. But she seems to have turned the corner. I agree it is interesting because on the one hand you could say, OK, if she didn't choke under the weight of beating Serena/Henin how will she choke vs Schiavone, and on the other hand you could say, well she was the dog vs those two and maybe in her mind even Jankovic, but now there is no doubt she is a monster fave, and this is the finals so the in that sense she is under more pressure than ever....

Another thing that concerns me about Stosur is the whole sexuality thing.  Rumor (don't know if it's true or not) has it that she bats the other way.  Never seemed to hurt King or Navratilova, but that could be a weakness when the head has to be totally together.

Schiavone has no pressure, but Stosur just seems to be on a mission with nuclear weapons (kick serve and forehand).

LOL I doubt Stosur is gonna be so turned on by Schiavone she cannot concentrate. Just IMO but I strongly feel like her being lezzie (if true) will not affect her at all this match.

I don't think Stosur played bad, that Italian girl was out of her mind today.  Her serve was great and she had a great game plan and executed it to perfection.

Had a half unit on Fran but then dumbly put a unit last night on stosur on the spread, letting all the stuff I read on sites and the h2h make me feel like i had wasted half a unit. oh well, a half unit profit and got to see Stosur exposed/Fran showing her game. Fran is the shit on clay and Stosur is a born choker who can only play well as a huge dog. End of story, nice slam. Hopefully next time if Henin or Serena play Sam in a Slam and she chokes up some vs them they can actually cool their own heads down and take advantage. Sam getting exposed should make people look back at their matches and expose them some. She played great vs them no doubt but she opened the door.

Anyway good job guys who saw this choke coming, even though I think Fran forced it our of her with her variety and does deserve credit. It is awesome that she won one, she may be ugly but her game is cool (not like youre lookin at closeups most of the time), her grunt is the most badass samurai grunt on tour, she is cocky as hell on the court and will talk some shit... after she started heating up early vs Wozniacki I remember her doing the hands acrocc the face "get her out of here" move , crazy fired up... She is one of my favorite players after watching her this tournament, already liked her.... she is great to have a bet on because you know she is gonna go nuts trying to cash it.
