Absolutely Vaas. Not just higher ranked but he has had a much tougher road in this competition than Rune and has passed all the tests while looking good. Both of these players are capable of beating anyone on tour on their best day, but Rublev to me should have been a slight favorite here. Too much value to pass up.

it’ll go deep im sure…..I cringe betting tennis. Watching that break point doc quite introspective. Loved the F1…..can fall apart on a dime for most players.

Rublev make me eat it.
tbh what a poor way to lose LOL, lips the netting.
question: I dabbled in tennis @ 14….at 9-8 Rublev has him dead to rights, why wouldn’t he smash left side court, it was wide open?

The way I saw it, Rublev was originally going to smash it into the left corner. He sees/feels Rune make a quick dash to his right (Rublev’s left) just as he is about to smash it. Rublev then makes a last second adjustment to hit it to his right, away from all of Rune’s momentum. Really should have been able to win the point (and the game) by smashing it into either corner or right at Rune himself. He had him scrambling. He completely whiffed from making that adjustment and hit it WAY too soft.
