US Open WTA QUALIFIER
Lys, Eva -238 21 yrs Germany ranked #145
Kessler, McCartney +190 24 yrs American ranked #363
Both ladies have won 2 qualifying matches, and the winner of this match will get entry into the main draw.
Basically, this is the biggest match of both of their careers thus far (moneywise, confidence boosting wise and prestige wise also).
This match is being played for more money than either one has ever played for before.
Note* each one of us sports bettors always remember the match / player or team that we wagered the most money in our lives on. It tends to stick to a person and no matter how long we live we will always remember that wager.
So, no matter how many people (coaches / family members / friends or others) tell you not to think about the money and just play the ball…………………players will be thinking about the money.
This match is the most important match that either one has ever played in terms of elevating their career and potentially life changing for them.
Lys has played 30 games total in her 2 wins. She’s 7-3 in her last 10 matches.
Kesseler has played 50 games total in her 2 wins. She’s 6-4 in her last 10 matches.
In both of their 2 wins McCartney Kessler has been on court for 4 hours and 12 minutes and Lys has been on court only 2hours and 15 minutes
Kessler was playing college tennis in the U. of Florida last year, where it’s more team oriented, honing her skills in a college environment with no money on the line.
Lys has been on the ITF and WTA circuit traveling internationally and learning, grinding, and honing her skill set and craft playing for money.
Kessler has been playing as an underdog, almost in each match she plays, against more experienced opponents…… day in and day out since she turned pro, which eventually wears on a person in physical oriented sports. it takes a toll mentally and physically while you are learning.
I think for Kessler the consistent battles having to play up in competition almost every match every day will catch up to her in this biggest of matches in her pro career today.
I feel that it will be a close, tough match and experience and freshness will pull Lys through.
So, I am rolling with the Ukrainian born German citizen Eva Lys -238 today.
