Very hard to bet against Serena here if we just look at the "first timer finals" experience angle...if Osaka faces anyone else in the world tomorrow id say yes she would get my backing, but here she is facing the GOAT at the USOpen...the chips couldnt be more stacked against the kid here...will she freeze up and play similiarly to Sevastova and poop her panties? I think the chances are quite good that Osaka comes back down to earth and becomes another Serena road kill, but the match will be competitive...64 64 Goat?
I strongly disagree, Osaka played a perfect match, went toe to toe with Keys and didn't flinch...the way Osaka served and played when facing bps on her serve was nothing short of GOAT-like...she showed tremendous poise for a kid playing in her 1st slam semi...Keys did what Keys does, goes for crazy winners and wild forehands and never went to plan B when she obviously needed to change tactics...Osaka earned last night's win
i'm not saying Keys didn't play well, and i'm not saying she choked, she just got outplayed when it mattered the most...she seemd tight and nervous from the start, hitting a few forehand errors into the net which is always a sign shes off..Keys will never do well consistently until she learns how to defend in a rally and be more patient...she hit some incredible winners but that can't overcome the errors she hits when it matters the most.
