Swiatek -5.5 (-115)
Gauff -4.5 (-120)
Swiatek -5.5 (-115)
I rarely lay the big spread with 2ga but against Dasha I just couldn't pass it up.
Now we need another winner from Gauff. She already has a spot in the semis but she needs to win here to avoid the possibility of facing Sabalenka in the semis.

even though gauff just beat swiatek if she wanted to stick it to iga since she has that 11-2 h2h gauff could simply lose in 2 sets or 3 sets and krej advances and swiatek goes home. I mean iga is someone who has beaten her 3 times at the french, in qf, sf, and final that has to hurt. with that said coco could be trying her best to win and she simply can't control the outcome of today's match against barb.

You are correct and either of those scenarios could be true, but I think it's really both players giving their best and Barb winning. Barb is dominating her serve in a way that's very reminiscent of how she did at Wimbledon, which makes her really dangerous.
But Sabalenka is without a doubt the big dog here and nobody would choose to play her in the semis in order to avoid Iga in the final. A win in the semis is worth $1.27m too. Gauff really only needed to win a set to claim the top spot in the group and avoid Sabalenka in the semis so I could understand if she won the first set and then took her foot off the gas. But even if her game was off she was definitely motivated and needed to win at least one set but failed to do so.

I didn't see this comment before my last post so some of what I said is redundant.

It is refreshing to have you posting such valued contributions to a sports forum.
I look forward to the next time a match finishes so you can enlighten us on an outcome we already have witnessed.
Please spend more time crafting messages containing your impactful insights to the tennis forum. There is a line around the corner awaiting your gems of captain obvious.
Said differently -- my experience is that some thoughts are best kept to yourself.

I was expecting around -200. I think I opened up draftkings right after they were posted and it was at -165 and was a little shocked but that is about what they were when they played in China. But then I looked again like five minutes later and they were up to -185. Same thing with Zheng, she was -200 and moved to -240.
I'm with you, I think Sabalenka rolls.

This will be our thread through the weekend. The Big Guy probably won't be around but if I receive any intel from him I'll try to pass it along.

I became more uncertain with more thought on these matches sure I can see zheng and saba winning but can also see both being closer than I thought. I expect a better coco than yesterday. she can run all day and gets a lot of balls back although I think saba's pace will be a little too much even her level tends to drift as the match goes along when she plays coco because coco is simply a backboard on the court and hard to penetrate. I've decided to not make any prematch bets on either of these two matches I'll watch closely and maybe look play something small looking for good ROI dog opportunities to maybe trade back later in the match. just gonna play it like that, gather info and maybe feel better about a prematch bet on the final. not gonna force anything.
