I was thinking that it would be possible that the public could be on France with regards to "Henry" and "Zidane", the big market names, where as Italy does not really have that star power name. Anyone agree here?

The public is so in love with Italia that I think I'm going to go double reverse hard on France by kickoff Sunday, especially if the public continues to love Italy. Just can't see the world books allowing the public to administer an ass-whipping on the biggest wagered game in the history of sports gambling. yeah, when the semi's were over, i thought that Italy was def the pick, but it is said that the public is on them, and therefore will not bet Italy.  I was hoping that the public would jump all over France, but i suppose this is not the case.

Just FYI - I laid off all of my bet on Italy.  I got France +128 today so I win 1k no matter which side wins.
 
I cant seem to talk myself in to either side so I will watch as a fan.

Van this is why I can't do what you do.  You start a thread talking about a terrific financial opportunity in which I'm guessing you have roughly $10K both ways to guarantee your $1K profit that had the potential to be even more, and some idiot kid comes in here saying the books won't let Italy win since they are a "public play."  Not only that, but he fucks up your entire thread posting his nonsense five times over.  Nevermind that it is only the biggest match on the biggest world stage on top of that.

Van I'll tell you something really funny....
 
I liked a tennis match a couple of weeks ago, and spread out a decent five figure amount at several books in order to get it all down.  This same idiot (claycourtlesson) started an ENTIRE THREAD saying that the play I put in had become a huge "public play" (I singlehandedly changed the line in about 30 minutes time), and that the other player was a guarantee because of it.  Want to guess who won in straights lol?  The idiocy on here is amazing...

I agree.  To think that a "public play" is somehow going to decide who wins this world cup is like saying the length of my last shit will determine the next presidential election.
 
The reason I started this thread was not because I liked Italy.  It was because I thought that no matter who they played in the final they would be a bigger fav than -117.  And if that was the case, everyone could make a profit.
 
But people here at covers dont care about profits or real money -  because most just care about the bravado they get from posting a winner and they dont bet real money anyway.  I have learned this over the years here.  Most people dont get that whether you liked Italy or not in the final that if you agreed that you could sell it back later by betting the other team you should do it and make a sure profit.
 
Oh well.
 
BTW - roughly 20k on each side - Italy at -114 (my bet drove it up to -117 at pinny) and then +128 gives me about 1300 profit either way.  Not bad for just sitting there being a fan.

I wish I had seen this a few days ago Vanzack, that is for sure.  Even if it had stayed around -120/+112 for the Italy/France final, you would have basically had Portugal at roughly +1500 against France after you factor in the two way split from hedging back on the comeback for either team (either a slight loss on France or a terrific score on Portugal assuming a buyback regardless).  Instead of that, it becomes an entire thread devoted to one young kid's crackpot theory on God knows what. 
 
I REALLY wish I'd seen this ahead of time, and have the upmost respect for your patience that is for damn sure.  Enjoy the game with your well thought out profit in hand mate...

If you can make a quick 1300 and sit back and enjoy the game,why not take it and run.its not about who wins all the time its about making $$$$$$$$$$$$.ITALY WILL WIN, but you made a smart move VANZACK.
