Love this thread! Best of luck to you CG! I don't know how long you'll last in Vegas but you can always look back on the experience as a great time. You are young so you can always regroup and get a paying job like you had before and not wonder ...what if?

I honestly don't believe you have the discipline to make it as a "pro". It's almost impossible to be two different people, if you even consider chasing with a 5K play, that shows your true colors. Even if you win, what happens the next time you're in the same situation? Will you then show more discipline? My guess is you'll do the same exact thing and eventually have to give up the dream as you gradually lose you bankroll. 

However, I think you should absolutely enjoy your time in Vegas before you head back to "normal" life. This whole thread reads kind of like an extended spring break trip that's fun while it lasts but has to come to an end, despite how much fun it is at the time.The name CollegeGambler couldn't be more fitting.

Have a blast, keep drinking and chasing MILFS!

There is a reason I found your thread last night.  I never go looking at the general forum on Covers.  Have not done it in the over 10 years I have been on here.  Not once.

But I did it last night...and more than that, I read the whole thread.  

It's no coincidence.  It's no accident.

Little story here.  In 1997, I basically did what you did.  Packed up and went to try my hand in Vegas.  Everything went great for the first month.  Had a bankroll of about 30k and doubled it in 1 month. Lost it all over the next 2 months and it all started almost exactly like what you are about to do.  A 5k bet "because it was time" to get some of it back.

Don't make this mistake...and make no mistake, it is a mistake.

You have a chance to make it and never look back.  What if this was the one bet that ended up being the beginning of the end?

There is no need to do it.  Get back to the plan and stick with the plan.  It was YOUR plan from day 1 and it is a good one.

It's a great plan.  0-6, therefore the gambling gods have declared him "due."  Chances to go 0-7 are about one in 64, or 1.5%.  About a 98 percent chance to win.  Go almost-full-Kelley...say a little conservative...only 90 to 95 percent of bankroll.

If you are going to take any advice in this thread, take this.  Bud Light is for girls, and tastes like watered down dish-water.  You want to get your MoJo back, step up the beer selection to pro level and get something decent.

BEST ADVICE EVER. GET OFF OF COVERS! DO NOT BET 5K! TAKE A FEW DAYS OFF AND FORMULATE A PLAN/STRATEGY! COME BACK IN 30 DAYS AND SHARE!

Here I am again with something to say about the play.

It's almost like you purposely seek out disturbing plays and lines to whip the board into a frenzy.

Why would you want to fade the team tied for the most wins in the NBA off their most disturbing loss of the year against the Sixers???

I'm all for taking terrible teams .... In the right spot.

If you feel this is such a great spot...elaborate!!!


You haven't answered anyone about their thoughts with regard to this game!

So what if they are getting 11. Florida was getting 16.5 and blew it.

The Kings are one of those teams where NO SPREAD given a loss is safe...NO SPREAD.

Nick is not a sociopath.  I believe that you need to review your mental health textbooks from 25 years ago when you graduated. Time for a refresher.

He is a young guy out in the world trying things out for the first time and he will learn from his experiences.  

There is always hope that he can learn from others experiences, but usually, we all have to learn from our own experiences.  It is the same reason why history repeats itself as each generation must make its mistakes, grow older and learn from them.

There is nothing "sociopathic" about rejecting sound advice.
