You're a bad capper, but the secret for you to winning a bet on a -1.5 favorite is to only play it if you cap them to win by 7-10.

It's brilliant.

The kid bets coin flip games and doesn't cap them for more than a minute.

Therefore he will lose some/win others and ultimately get vigged out just like what is occurring, in addition to his losses.

It was a general rule I followed as novice capper (CG is proving himself to be one in the NBA) EXCEPT when there is an opportunity that comes around once in a blue moon. This was one of them. Anyhow, keep talking. You're only bringing more attention to the Harvard win!

CollegeG, have you apologized to your Mom yet? If you have, the gambling gods will give you good karma. Also apologize to the person as well. You need good karma if you are going to make it to the NFL. I am just really disappointed in you because you were being so smart and disciplined then you totally fell off the rails. Terribly sad bc you actually are good at picking games when you are deliberate and stable. If you can get back there to that point, you can come back. I just fear you are going to put 10 K on one game and pray for a damn miracle.please don't donthat

CG, I just looked at your new stats and you just aren't picking at a good enough rate to make it as a pro right now, putting aside your money management issues.  

Let's leave the parlay out and you are at 44-38 on hoops.  If you were flat betting these games at $550/500 each time you'd be up just $1,100 if my math is right ($22k in on wins, $20,900 out on losses assuming all games at -110).  

That would be $1,100 for what, 1.5 months out there?  Not nearly enough to live on, you can't even pay your rent with that.

While I formerly thought that your main problem was your bet amount "strategy" issues (going on tilt, etc.), I am now convinced more than ever that you need to give up on basketball, get a job for a few months, and preserve your capital for football season.  At your projection of $3,000 in living expenses per month, a measly $700 or so profit per month isn't going to cut it without income from elsewhere.

Scal is a 50% capper AT BEST. There's absolutely NO reason for him to be putting CG down when he, himself, can barely cap games. Just doesn't make any sense at all.

A.  Set a goal (include your 3k a month expenses)
B.  Set an expected win %
C.  How many games you can bet in that goal timeframe (month)
D.  Vig % (1.1)

(C * B) - (C * (1-B) * D) = X
       A / X =    BET SIZE

All you need to do after following the above formula is concentrate on hitting your win percentage.

Since this is a down time in the on-going soap opera thread on Covers.com. we will just have to chat among ourselves until Thursday.

I just keep noticing that more then a dozen posters want to give cg the benifit of their capping/money management skills and even go so far to tell him how he should plan his life's work.With all due respect this is cg's gig and scalabrine and vanzak and others weren't there when cg went off on the football season last year and if cg started betting the games that scal/van/trolls were pitching this thread would go nowhere.I think the first thing cg should of said when scalabrine ragged him was bl*w me and get out of my thread which I think he did. Breaking Bad wasn't the greatest TV series because Vince Gilligan started taking scripts from viewers after season 2.This is cg's storyand vanzackand scalabrine have already said he can't do it so sit back and watch or get out of the way but no need to stick your person where it wasn't invited.

BINGO  For some reason CG and some of his followers think because he picked some winners in football this year, that suddenly makes him a good capper in all the other sports.  That couldnt be further from the truth.  Its toughen enough to try and become good at one sport, but to think you can just go bet all the sports and do this for a living, is foolish thinking, which we all know CG does

CG going off and having a good football season doesnt mean he can suddenly do this for a living and on top of that beat all the other sports everyday.  Boy if doing this for a living was so easy, we would all be doing and the books would all be out of business.

This further reinforces what I'm saying about CG's basketball plays: if you use his 53.7% win percentage on basketball bets (leaving out the parlay), if you assume he wants to profit $5k a month and make 60 bets per month, he has to bet $3k per game.  On this small bankroll, of course, he can't do that or he risks gambler's ruin.

Said another way, for every 36 bets he makes he'll win one unit at his current win percentage.  That means he either needs to bet huge units or lots of games to try to keep feeding the monkey.  And it's been a huge monkey lately w/ all the "social outings."

EXACTLY but that's the DRAMA,the pull, the HOOK!!!! Maybe he can,maybe he can't but he's doing it right in front of everyone and he NEVER asked for your $.02 and it's a deadend thread if he starts asking.This is cg making cg's plays and if he starts making scalabrine plays I'll stop reading cg's post just like I stopped reading scalabrine posts for which I'm enjoying Covers.com more and I reccomend it.

Been keeping up this thread since January. Agree with your post on every level. The only thing that kept me pressing next page after next page was the valuable info from Vanzack and others. Some really good stuff in here, outside the majority of garbage that was posted in here. My only regret, was not doing what you did by copying and pasting some of good info and advice. 

Sent you a FR and hate to ask you this, but do you mind sending me some the stuff you copied and pasted? I Really don't have the time or energy to through 300 pages again lol. Correct me if i'm wrong but I believe most the nuggets were in page 40-70 range?

I'm not here to stick up for any capper. But, Ask "Scal" this . Why have you stopped with your 3 page write ups and picks? He got killed by certain posters and lost a lot. He thought he was better at capping games than he auctually was. Go ahead Scal-

You really are thick headed and still dont get it.  Just because you had a good football season, that doesnt mean you will have a good season in the other sports. Tons of people have a good season in one sport, but then get blown out when they try to do other sports.  You are no different.  All kidding a side, you really arent a good basketball capper, even if you dont want to believe that.  Until you develop your own numbers for baskets, you will never earn a living betting games.
