Not jealous by any means, just being realistic on the lifestyle that he is getting himself into. I would much rather gamble part time than have to reside to betting on 18-19 year olds to make a living. plus other things no 401k, no health benefits, etc., i would suggest opening a roth which i believe has been mentioned. This ride will only last so long just being realistic and i think others are just saying the same

I totally disagree. If you do it for a living you do it for a living. Part time job? What happens during the upcoming 2 weeks of conference tournaments when there are games going on all day and all night? Then day baseball? You either go for it or you don't, half as sing it ain't going to work. It's no more of a grind then a punch the clock job that's for sure. If a losing day or week affects your sleep or whether you go the gym or not you shouldn't be gambling at all.
Good point about conference tournaments and day baseball. Right out of college I had a standard 9-5 and it was nearly impossible to balance both. Even on non day games I would work 9-5 then go home and watch games from 7-2. Really do either have to go all in if this is the path you wanna take.

Fair point about health benefits. Paying out of pocket for health insurance hasn't been fun but others who own small businesses have to do the same. Saying the ride will "only last so long" is true for most, but not true for all.

he says he only has about 50-60k to his name, that is not a lot of money by any means in this day and age. with no guaranteed income or retirement set up, just asking for a heap of trouble down the road

Agreed. I personally wouldn't have chosen to go pro with 50-60k but everyone is different.

A "professional" should not have to worry about games all day all night etc...that's a degenerate. If he is capping games the day before or in the morning he should only have to head to the sports book once and place all his bets all one time for the entire day. Plus there is online apps. Not saying he needs to get a full time job but a part time job at minimum.
Not true again. A professional would not place all bets at once, they would be monitoring line moves and injury updates all day. Also playing halftime lines when warranted. Am I degenerate because I noticed Cal Fullertons leading scorer unexpectedly didn't start vs Hawaii- then played Hawaii 2nd half b/c I had a liability on Fullerton?

I agree with that. CG was tired of his job and the weather, had the means to follow his dream, and did it. Have to applaud him, most people just complain and never do anything to try a change.

It's really easy to sit at your computer and tell someone else what they need to do to be successful. But the reality is, that everyone is different, and what might work/not work for you, could be completely inapplicable for someone else.

Tsw- you summed it up.. Also 3 hour round trip commute it was with the Pulaski skyway down getting into jersey city... I made 2 months salary my first week out here. Big deal I know I know I have to sustain it but I know I can. I am very, very passionate about this. Hopefully Pitt can hold on. Staying humble is the biggest thing which I plan on doing. Not to high after wins not to low after losses

If you are able to do this, you will have everyone rooting for you, I can promise you that. So many guys on here go on a good couple month stretch and think they are invincible.
Anyone on here remember Beantown and his videos? He thought he had the ability to go pro after two good weeks. Made a website with videos and thought he was on his way to being a millionaire off the bat. Half of covers kissed his behind, and the other half told him to chill KNOWING it was inevitable he would go broke. Well, his accounts/website have all been deleted so you do the math. Definition of a trainwreck.
From what I gather so far, you are the opposite of this and I wish you nothing but the best.

This was my only bet of the day. Pitt started fouling with 2 min left was bad enough then fouling down 11 with 20 seconds left mind boggling. That is why it was critical I shopped for +12 and made the extra drive when they were +11.5 at most books today here
