Even if your books don't offer a -1/+1 line in MLB, you can still bet it by splitting your bet between the ML and the RL.

For example, going off of today's current 5dimes line. If you wanted the Reds -1.  To keep it simple, I'll just use $10 as our base.

Reds -1.5 (+155) and Reds ML (-140) are the spreads.

So wager:
$10 to win $15.50 on the RL and
$14 to win $10 on the ML

If they win by 1 exactly, you push.

If they win by 2, you win both, and obviously if they lose, you lose both.  You can even figure out your price on it to see if your line is right.

Risking $24 to win $25.50.  (25.5/24)*100 = 106.25, so you are getting about +106 on your wager.  And actually, 5dimes does offer 1 run lines, and the Reds are at +105, so doing it the way I described above actually gives you a slightly better price, albeit a small difference.

It's gets a little trickier if you aren't using multiples of 10, but it's nothing a little math can't fix.

I saw the last 2 minutes the line went to 7.5 at 5 dimes. 
Under 7.5 -145  Over 7.5 +105

What's this mean? Someone unloaded on the over than? Or under?

It's no secret the total in Reds games has been under 9 games in a row.  Every day people are hoping "the over will finally hit".

After your Reds over chase took a loss, I played over on Tues .

I would imagine the thinking is "the over is due".

Sooner or later that thinking will win.
